The Euless Police and Fire Departments recently won the 2016 Lifestyle Improvement Challenge issued by Baylor Scott & White - Grapevine. First place automatically comes with bragging rights for our first responders, but it also provided them with $25,000 to fund healthy initiatives for their departments. This challenge encouraged our public safety team to focus on improving their health and wellness. They met the challenge head on and not only hosted a free community fun run in May, they planted vegetable gardens behind each of the fire stations, participated in nutrition presentations, and sent representatives from Police and Fire to the Cooper Clinic for Fitness Specialist Training. In addition, each of the individual fitness profiles of police and fire personnel showed improved fitness and weight loss. The funding will aid in the facilitation of sustainable programs that promote health and wellness for police and fire personnel. A big thank you goes out to Baylor Scott & White Grapevine for issuing the challenge! If you would like to look back at some of the initiatives that took place over the year, please visit the 2016 Lifestyle Improvement Challenge - Euless Police and Fire facebook page.
