HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-11-03 TEEN COURT ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES MEETING OF NOVEMBER 3, 2016 STATE OF TEXAS § COUNTY OF TARRANT § CITY OF BEDFORD § The Teen Court Advisory Board of the cities of Hurst, Euless and Bedford,Texas met at 6:00 p.m. at Bedford City Hall on the 3rd day of November 2016,with the following members present: HURST: Lorrie Dickerson, Aaron Switzer EULESS: Aaron Lindeman, Renu Sloan, BEDFORD: Janet Key TEEN REPRESENTATIVES: Hurst Council Liaison — Bedford Council Liaison— Euless Council Liaison—Eddie Price HEB Teen Court Coordinator—Mindy Eichorst HEB Teen Court Assistant— Also present: Hurst City Secretary— Euless Staff Liaison —Teresa Alexander Bedford Court Manager— Doug Campbell Hurst Court Manager— Lisa Howard HEB Teen Court Teen Liaison- Bedford Administrative Services Director- CALL TO ORDER Vice-Chairperson Janet Key called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. with a quorum of five Board Members present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Consider approval of the following Teen Court Advisory Board minutes: a) October 6, 2016 Regular Meeting Aaron Lindeman made a motion to approve the October 6, 2016 minutes and Lorrie Dickerson seconded the motion and all were in favor. INTRODUCTIONS Advisory Board Member Aaron Switzer was introduced to city staff. OLD BUSINESS 2. Discuss ideas for fundraisers/sponsorship. Coordinator Mindy Eichorst handed out an updated sponsorship packet to see if there was anything else that needed to corrected or added. There were a few suggestions within the packet that could easily be changed. Coordinator Eichorst mentioned she would see if Board Member Jen Tucker could make the changes. Vice-Chairperson Janet Key mentioned she wondered if there could be a link on the Teen Court website where businesses who wanted to be a sponsor or donate money to the Teen Court Scholarship fund could do this online as opposed to sending a check. Ms. Eichorst mentioned she would check with the City of Bedford Finance Department and see if this could be done. Ms. Eichorst also mentioned she tried to forward the spreadsheet link to everyone and for some reason she was unable to but is checking into that. 3. Discuss and possibly take action on items as they relate to the 2017 annual Teen Court Gala. Coordinator Mindy Eichorst presented the Hurst Conference Center's Event Proposal for the Board Members to look over and compare to the Texas Star Event Proposal. Lorrie Dickerson made a motion to use the Hurst Conference Center as the location for the Teen Court Scholarship Gala on April 20, 2017 and Aaron Lindeman seconded the motion with a unanimous vote. Renu Sloan mentioned the Board still needs to have the Save the Date cards sent out and if some of the items from the silent auction, could be added, possibly the vacations. Lorrie Dickerson asked if somewhere on the cards it can specify that debit and credit cards can be accepted. Renu Sloan suggested if All For G0000000d, the company who assisted last year with the silent auction, could come and speak with the Advisory Board. NEW BUSINESS 4. Discuss and possibly take action on a date for the Gala Committee to meet. Advisory Board Member Renu Sloan asked since some of the Board Members were not present if an email could be sent out to possibly see who is interested in being on the Gala Committee and when they could meet. Coordinator Mindy Eichorst mentioned that Board Member Jen Tucker and Chairperson Kathleen Toms mentioned to her that they were interested. 5. Set the date for the next Teen Court Advisory Meeting. Aaron Lindeman made a motion to have the next meeting on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Bedford City Hall, and Aaron Switzer seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. REPORTS Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst went over the Coordinator's Report and Finance Report for the month of October 2016. ADJOURNMENT Lorrie Dickerson entered a motion for the meeting to be adjourned. Aaron Lindeman seconded the motion and all voted in favor.
