HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-11-27213 Regular Meeting Euless City Council November 27, 1962 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was held on November 27, 1962. Present were Mayor J. S. Anderson, Councilman Billy Byers, H, M. Huffman, Roy Braswell, and Billy Owens. Visitors in attendance were Messrs. Warren Fuller, Howard Kuehn, and Charles Penry. The meeting was opened w it h a prayer by Mayor Anderson. The minutes of the regular meeting dated November 13, 1962 were read and approved. 1. Mrs. E. L. Skipper appeared before the Council requesting a permit to raise, for sale, tropical fish at 707 Henslee Drive, a residential area,with limited advertising on her property. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell , and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that this request be tabled for the time being. The vote in favor was unanimous. 2. The Council discussed the proposed widening of Pipeline Road north of Bell High School on the Bedford side of the road. The property, curb and gutter is to be furnished by Sabine Valley Lumber Company, and the strip of paving from curb and gutter to the existing paving is to be done by the County. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Owens, to ask the County Engineers and Commissioners to perform this additional paving and request a profile of engineering be furnished Euless City Engineers before construction is started. The vote in favor was unanimous. 3. A motion was mace by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Byers, that the City relieve Hand Smith, by letter, from the maintenance agreement of July 10, 1962, on a five foot buffer strip on West Wilshire Drive as it pertains to the south 450 foot strip and that portion north of the south line of Sagebrush Trail extended easterly. The vote in favor was unanimous. 4. After discussion, a motion was made by Council man Owens, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, appointing Mr. Warren Fuller to serve as representative, to attend all local meetings and report on progress of the Regional Airport as proposed by the Mid City area Mayors. The vote in favor was unanimous. 214 (Page Two, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, November 27, 1962) 61 The Council agreed to advertise for bids for a 1963 police patrol car, trading in a 1962 Ford. 6. A motion was made by Councilman Byers, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 174 on second reading, as read by the City Attorney. The vote in favor was unanimous. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 177 on second reading, as read by the City Attorney. The vote in favor was unanimous. A motion was made by Councilman Owens, and seconded by Councilman Byers; approving and adopting Ordinance No. 179 on second reading, as read by the City Attorney. The vote in favor was unanimous. 0 A motion was made by Councilman Byers, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 180 on second reading, as read by the City Attorney, The vote in favor was unanimous. 10. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 181 on second reading, as read by the City Attorney. The vote in favor was unanimous. 11. A motion was made by Councilman Byers, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 182 on second reading, as read by the City Attorney. The vote in favor was unanimous. 12. 13. A motion was made by Councilman Byers, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 184 on second reading, as read by the City Attorney. The vote in favor was unanimous. A motion was made by Councilman Owens, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 183 on second reading, as read by the City Attorney. The vote in favor was unanimous. 13. A motion was made by Councilman Byers, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 184 on second reading, as read by the City Attorney. A motion was made Icy Councilman Owens, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 185 on second reading, as read lay the City Attorney. The vote in favor was unanimous. 15. The Council instructed the City Manager to review the Solicitors Ordinance and enforce same to the letter. 16. A motion was made by Councilman Owens, and seconded lay Councilman Byers, authorizing the City Engineers to survey Broad- way and Hollywood re': drainage and report to the Council at a later date. seconded by Councilman Braswell, vote in favor was unanimous.
