HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-12-11217 Regul a r Meeting Euless City Council December 11, 1962 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was held on December 11, 1962. Present were Councilmen Bobby Fuller, H. M. Huffman, Billy Byers, Roy Braswell , and Billy Owens. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro -tem Fuller in the absence of Mayor Anderson. The invocation was given by Re. Wayne LaCava . A motion was made by Councilman Byers, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, approving the minutes of the regular meeting of November 27, 1962. The vote in favor was unanimous. 1. A public hearing was held concerning rezoning of 39.672 acres owned by Tri- Cities Development Corporation, as presented by Nk Douglass. Interested parties appearing were Me and Mrs. F. 0. Genske, Nt and Mrs. Johnson, Mr: J. F. Smith, and Nk A. T. Seller. There was no opposition. A motion was made by Councilman Owens, and seconded by Councilman Byers, approving this rezoning request as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Three Councilmen voted for the motion and Councilman Braswell opposed the motion. The motion carried. 2. Mc Darrow and Mc Thomas of Design Associates, appeared before the Council offering services of their office. 3. Nk Di son appeared before the Council requesting a permit to operate taxi -cabs in Euless. The Council furnished Nt Dison with a copy of Ordinance No. 41 and asked him t o comply. 4. Mr. Curtis McCaffi ty appeared before the Council with reference to garbage pick up, specifically in the Morrisdale Estates. R requested an increase to $2.00 per month for back -yard pick up, or $1.50 for curb pick up. The Council instructed the City Attorney and City Manager to prepare a letter for presentation at the next Council meeting. 5. The Council opened sealed bids on the purchase of a patrol car. Only one bid was received, from Bob Cooke, Inc. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, accepting the bid as submitted, trade in the 1962 Ford, with a net difference of $1361.00. Three Councilmen voted for the motion and Councilman Owens abstained. The motion carried. Councilman Huffman requested that in the future, advertising for bids be mailed to dealers and request reply. 218 Page Two, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, December 11, 1962) 6. A motion was made by Councilman Owens, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, approving and adopting Ordinance No. 192 annexing property at Glade Road and Highway No. 157, per Exhibit "A" as presented by the City Engineers and the City Attorney. The vote i n favor was unanimous. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Byers, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, designating December 17, 1962, as second regular meeting for this month, as the fourth Tuesday will be on December 25, 1962. The vote in favor was unanimous. A motion was made by Councilman Byers, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, adopting Ordinance No. 186 on second reading as read by the City Attorney.
