MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, JANUARY 5, 2017
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library Board was called to order by
Chairman Snitz at 6:55 p.m. on Thursday,January 5, 2017, in the Board Room of the Library,201
N. Ector Drive. Those present included Chairman Barney Snitz, Vice Chairman Allan Gibbs,
Board Members Jim Hamilton, Mike McGehee, Chris McAllister, and Carol Kveck, and
Alternates Leslie Kane and Magen Brown

ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINTUES
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held December
1,2016. The motion was made by Vice Chairman Gibbs and seconded by Board Member Kveck.
ITEM NO. 3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcomed all visitors present.
ITEM NO. 4 WELCOMED NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Chairman Snitz welcomed the two new members, Leslie Kane and Magen Brown, and introduced
the returning members.
ITEM NO. 5 ELECTED OFFICERS
Board Member Kveck made a motion to nominate Barney Snitz as Chairman. Board Member
Mike McGehee seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion carried.
Board Member McAllister made a motion to nominate Allan Gibbs as Vice Chairman. Board
Member McGehee seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion carried.

Board Member Gibbs made a motion to nominate Carol Kveck as Secretary. Board Member
McAllister seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion carried.
ITEM NO. 6 PRESENTED LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
Library Administrator Knight informed the Board that Youth Library Assistant Kasey Fanucchi
resigned from her position with the Library to accept a position as Youth Librarian for the City of
Denton and that Library Aide Maria Pham has accepted a promotion to take over as the Youth
Library Assistant under the direction of Youth Librarian Angela Jones, thus opening a position in
Circulation for a Library Aide.
Mrs.Knight presented the new user-friendly formatting on the Library Statistics and requested that
the Board inform of any improvements or other data they wished to see.
Mrs. Knight gave an overview of upcoming Library events:
Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Bill Steele: Cave Explorer will discuss his adventures as
a speleologist in the Library Meeting Room. This is event is sponsored by ELF.
Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Adult Reference Librarian Eric Terry will lead a new
program teaching the latest and most popular Apps called"What's That App?"
Every month on Goodreads (www.goodreads.com) Librarian Donna Gooch will lead an online
Book Club Discussion on our Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library group page.
The 3-D Printer is out for public use offering a free job under 100 grams.
ITEM NO. 7 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Chairman Snitz commented on the success of the Mayor's Holiday Kickoff held on December 1
in the Council Chambers and on the enjoyment of the Andy Mason: A Brief History of Christmas
Music and singing along the all the Christmas Carols through the ages.
Library Board Vice-Chairman
Vice Chairman Gibbs gave an overview of what the Euless Library Foundation(ELF) and what it
does for the Library and invited everyone present to attend the Bill Steele cave explorer event and
discussed in more detail about his travels. Vice Chairman Gibbs also explained what Amazon
Smile was and how it worked.
Library Board Members
Board Member Kveck complimented the new Library Statistic report and appreciated its look and
simplicity. Board Member Kveck also stated that the Youth department has had a very busy 2016

year and told of how Youth Librarians Angela and Lacey received gifts from children for the
positive effect they have on the community.
Board Member McAllister stated that he used Amazon Smile often and inquired about the impact
it had on ELF and thanked Mrs.Knight for her previous presentation on the online library resource
Pronunciator and stated that his daughter started a language club at school using the program.
ITEM NO. 8 PUBLIC COMMENTS
Leon Hogg of Euless gave an update on the health of Betty Fuller and his wife, Jan, and gave a
brief history of the how the current library is on land that he once owned.
LuAnn Portugal of Euless gave a brief summary of her take on the library and what it does for our
community, including what it did for her family. Ms. Portugal stated that the Library, Library
Board and the Euless Library Foundation, keep a good pulse on the City of Euless. Ms. Portugal
also gave an update on current developments in the City.
ITEM NO. 9 ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Board Member McGehee
and seconded by Board Member Gibbs. The meeting was adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
