HomeMy WebLinkAbout822 11-13-1984ORDINANCE NO. 822 AN ORDINANCE REPLACING ORDINANCE NO. 637; RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE PLACING AND MAINTENANCE OF "NO PARKING" SIGNS ON CER- TAIN PUBLIC STREETS; PROVIDING A SEVERABIL- ITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A PENALTY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Article III, Section 31 of V.A.C.S., 6701d, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways, provides that local authorities may erect traffic control signs; provided all such traffic control devices conform to the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation's manual and specifications. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS: SECTION 1 THAT the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, hereby authorizes, ratifies and confirms the placing and maintenance of "No Parking" signs at the following designated locations in the city limits of the City of Euless, Texas. Such signs shall conform to the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, adopted by the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation of the State of Texas. VINE STREET -- 300 Block, both sides of street; AIRPORT FREEWAY -- North and South Service Road; EULESS WESTPARK WAY -- 100 -200 Blocks, both sides of street; SOUTH ECTOR DRIVE -- 100 -200 Blocks, both sides of street; EL CAMINO REAL -- 1100 -1500 Blocks, both sidees of street; NORMAN DRIVE -- 300 Block, both sides of street. SECTION 2 Penalty Clause. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars. SECTION 3 Severability Clause. It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, that in the event any phrases, paragraphs, sentences, clauses, or sections of this ordinance shall be declared unconstitutional by the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs, or sections of this ordinance. SECTION 4 Publication Clause. This ordinance shall become effective upon and after final passage and publication as provided by the Euless City Charter and the laws of the State of Texas. SECTION 5 Emergency Clause. By the affirmative vote of four or more of its members, the City Council declares that this is an ordinance for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health and safety, and is an emergency measure within the meaning of Article II, Section 11 of the City Charter; and the requirement that it be read at two meetings, as specified in such Section 11, is hereby dispensed with.
