Parks and Leisure Services Board
January 9, 2017
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:55 p.m. on
Monday, January 9, 2017 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Randy Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Jason Reyes,
and Salman Bhojani. Members absent:Tiffany Smith and Mohib Nawab.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson and Administrative Secretary Jordan
Peterson.
Visitors present: Irma Reyes and Robert Kalbfleisch
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
November 7th, 2016 regular meeting. Mr. Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by Mr. Raab. The vote was unanimous.
I. Election of Officers
Chairman Jones advised that the current Park Board Officers are: Chairman — Randy Jones,
Vice Chairman —John Raab and Secretary—Steve Doty.
The current Tree Board Officers are: Chairman —Tiffany Smith and Vice Chairman —Jason
Reyes.
Chairman Jones stated that each officer will be elected by nomination and then vote of the
Park Board. He opened the floor for nominations.
John Raab made a motion to nominate Randy Jones for Chairman of the Park Board. The
motion was seconded by Roger Sickler. With no other nominations the vote to approve
was unanimous.

Chairman Jones made a motion to nominate John Raab for Vice Chairman of the Park
Board. The motion was seconded by Jason Reyes. With no other nominations the vote to
approve was unanimous.
Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate Steve Doty for Secretary of the Park Board. The
motion was seconded by John Raab. With no other nominations the vote to approve was
unanimous.
Chairman Jones made a motion to nominate Jason Reyes for Chairman of Tree Board. The
motion was seconded by John Raab. With no other nominations the vote to approve was
unanimous.
Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate himself for Vice Chairman of Tree Board. The
motion was seconded by Steve Doty. With no other nominations the vote to approve was
unanimous.
The new 2017 Park Board officers are: Chairman — Randy Jones, Vice Chairman — John
Raab and Secretary—Steve Doty.
The new 2017 Tree Board officers are: Chairman —Jason Reyes and Vice Chairman — Roger
Sickler.
II. Board Member Reports
a. Steve Doty—Preserve and McCormick: No items to report.
b. John Raab—VOBC and Reflection: No items to report.
c. Tiffany Smith— Heritage and South Euless: Not present.
d. Roger Sickler- West park& Wilshire: No items to report.
e. Jason Reyes—Midway& Blessing Branch: Light needs to be replaced on EFLC sign.
f. Salman Bhojani— Bob Eden and Trailwood: No items to report
g. Mohib Nawab—Kiddie Carr&J.A. Carr: Not present.
h. Randy Jones—Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.
i. Randy Jones reported on the special events:
• December 12— Heritage Park Christmas—650 people

• January 14—Christmas Tree Recycling 10 am— 1 pm Aquatic Parking Lot
• February 11—Daddy Daughter Dance at EFLC Senior Center 6:30—8:30 pm
• February 11— Heritage Park Open House tours 1 pm —5pm

III. Volunteer of the Month
a. Chairman Jones announced the January 2017 Volunteer of the Month award goes to
Robert Kalbfleisch. Mr. Kalbfleisch has been involved since day one of joining the
center. This includes teaching several of our crafty creation classes, card making
classes, and always willing to help when needed. This high energy, fun loving guy has a
smile that never stops and joy in his heart. He goes over and beyond to assist us at the
center.
IV. Volunteer of the Month Discussion
Staff recommended Volunteer of the Month be modified to Volunteer of the Quarter.
Board agreed with the recommendation with exception to a special award on certain
months as board/staff see necessary.
V. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for December:
a. Total man hours for December 1-31 = 789
• 408.00 Horticulture
• 47.00 Forestry
• 68.00 Greenhouse
• 137.00 Special Projects
• 129.00 Training
➢ We have started to sow acorns for the Arbor Daze Festival, we currently have
500 acorns with roots.
VI. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report—Suzanne Hendrickson
• Received new workout equipment.
• Planning process has begun for summer.
c. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Lowes Heroes work at Carr Park.
• Western Extension project has started.
• Update on Legends field —light poles are in and foundation is poured.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.
VII. Other New Business

No input or comments.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
