MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2017
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library Board was called to order by
Chairman Snitz at 6:59 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017, in the Board Room of the Library,
201 N. Ector Drive. Those present included Chairman Barney Snitz, Vice Chairman Allan Gibbs,
Board Members Jim Hamilton, Chris McAllister, and Carol Kveck, and Alternate Magen Brown

ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINTUES
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held January 5,
2017. The motion was made by Vice Chairman Gibbs and seconded by Board Member Hamilton. '
ITEM NO. 3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcomed all visitors present.
ITEM NO. 4 PRESENTED LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
Youth Library Assistant, Maria Pham, introduced herself and gave a brief presentation on the
newly added STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Kits now available in the
Youth Department, mentioning their quick success.
Library Administrator, Sherry Knight,gave a brief overview of the newly revised statistical reports
provided and asked for any feedback on the new formatting, mentioning the separate of the Teen
Programs from the Children's Programs.
Ms. Knight gave an overview of upcoming programs and events:
What's That App? with Librarian Eric Terry, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
Goodreads Online Book Club every month on our Goodreads page at www.goodreads.com.
AARP Tax Help available every Monday until April 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
HEB Reads!Kickoff Event on Saturday, May 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Ms. Knight also gave a staff update stating that Minnie Mims resigned from her Library Aide part
time position and two new Library Aides: Pablo Sandoval and Susan Leshinski.
ITEM NO. 7 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Chairman Snitz commented on the success of the Bill Steele: Cave Explorer presentation and
reminded the Board to RSVP for the Boards and Commissions upcoming dinner on February 27,
2017.
Library Board Vice-Chairman
Vice Chairman Gibbs agreed with Chairman Snitz on the success of the Bill Steele: Cave Explorer
presentation and discussed his upcoming trip to Cuba and their cause of taking wheelchairs to
those in need via his Rotary affiliation.
Library Board Members
Board Member Kveck complimented the Librarystaff and commented that she often received ..
positive comments from the patrons.
Board Member McAllister commented on the success of the Christmas Green Screen pictures that
Library Circulation Lead Stasha Barriere managed and how much it benefited our patrons. Board
Member McAllister also inquired about the 2017 Concert Music Series from ArtsNet and Ms.
Knight said that information would be provided as soon as it was available.
Alternate Brown complimented the layout of the Youth department stating that it was very kid
friendly and she felt at ease allowing her child to explore the area.
ITEM NO. 8 PUBLIC COMMENTS
LuAnn Portugal of Euless stated that Ms. Knight was building a nice culture in the Euless Library
environment with her new hires and mentioned that the Parks and Community Services (PACS)
department is always looking for volunteers for their events.
ITEM NO. 9 ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Board Member Gibbs
and seconded by Board Member Kveck. The meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
