HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-02-06 Regular Meeting Parks and Leisure Services Board February 6, 2017 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:56 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman Randy Jones. Other Board Members present: Tiffany Smith, Jason Reyes, Salman Bhojani, and Mohib Nawab. Members absent: John Raab, Steve Doty, and Roger Sickler. Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson and Administrative Secretary Jordan Peterson. Visitors present: Leon Hogg INVOCATION Chairman Jones gave the invocation. C APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the January 2, 2017 regular meeting. Mr. Reyes made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was seconded by Mr. Nawab. The vote was unanimous. I. Board Member Reports a. Steve Doty—Preserve and McCormick: Not present. b. John Raab—VOBC and Reflection: Not present. c. Tiffany Smith — Heritage and South Euless: No items to report. d. Roger Sickler- West park & Wilshire: Not present. e. Jason Reyes—Midway & Blessing Branch: No items to report. f. Salman Bhojani— Bob Eden and Trailwood: Requested more lighting at Trailwood. g. Mohib Nawab—Kiddie Carr &J.A. Carr: Creek may need additional cleaning. h. Randy Jones—Parks at Texas Star: No items to report. C Parks and Leisure Services Board Page 1 CII. Business of the Tree Board Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for January: a. Total man hours for January 1-31 = 1043 • 599.00 Horticulture • 126.00 Forestry • 76.00 Greenhouse • 159.00 Special Projects • 82.00 Training ➢ Over 500 Christmas trees were chipped and mulch was given away at Christmas tree recycle event. ➢ Trees have been trimmed at Westpark. ➢ Trees along Pipeline Rd. at Hwy 10 have been trimmed. ➢ Park system has been checked and cleaned from storm damage. ➢ All staff members went through a certified chipper safety class. V. Directors Report—Ray McDonald • Parks crew updated play structures around the city. • Updated board on new turf infields at PATS and Legends Field. ® • Updated board on Western Extension trail project • Discussed the new budget year, and asked for suggestions on new requests. VI. Other New Business No new business. VIII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors No input or comments. ADJOURNMENT Chairman Jones gave the benediction.
