Minutes
March 13, 2017
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson, Mavy Wright, called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was held at
the Euless City Hall, Euless.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Doris Brown, Alford Browning, Michele Burger, Bill Byers, Joe Cannon, Weldon Cannon, Barbara
Collier, Iris Elliott, Leon Hogg, Norma Lively, Marilyn Long, Don Martin, David Massey, Anniece
McKanna, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Linda Pool, Faye Stinneford, Jeffrey Taylor, Mary Lib Saleh
and Peggy Vandiver.
STAFF PRESENT
Director of Parks and Community Services, Ray McDonald; Recreation Manager Suzanne
Hendrickson and Projects Coordinator, Ofa Faiva-Siale.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There were two corrections: on Page 1, under Approval of Minutes, there are two "in" and
there should only be one; and on Page 3, the word "indicated" is missing the "a". Gary Parker
made a motion to approve the minutes with the two corrections. Leon Hogg seconded the
motion. All were in favor, minutes approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The previous balance was $11,327.33. There was a deposit of$25 in honor of Forrest Wright,
leaving a current balance of$11,352.33.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Docent Reports/Recruitment—Gary Parker
a. There were 19 visitors at open house on Saturday, March 11, 2017.
2. Acquisition—Bill Byers
a. Mr. Byers has the aerial photograph of the Voss property. It needs to be added
to the inventory.
3. Library Display—Marilyn Long
a. Still planning to schedule a meeting with the Sub-committee to decide what
theme they will use for the next display.
4. Heritage Park Coordinator—Gary Parker
a. The Blacksmith Shop should be completed by the April 8 open house.

5. Euless Marker—No Report
6. Publicity/Program/Speakers—Barbara Collier
a. Plans for the Blacksmith Shop grand opening on Saturday, April 8, 2017 is fairly
complete. Brochures will also be handed out at the event.
7. Plaque—Faye Stinneford
a. Recent engravings on the plaque are done. Ms. Stinneford will hang the plaque
back up at the Museum.
8. Display Signs— No Report
9. Photography/Oral History—No Report
10. Historical Albums—Marilyn Long
a. Planning to meet with the Sub-committee and have a work day.
11. Artifact Recovery—No Report
12. Historical Tree Program—No Report
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Mavy Wright reported that Beth and James Gathings and Joyce Wallace resigned from
the Committee.
2. New member Kathey Knecht works during the day but will try to make the monthly
meetings.
3. Encouraged everyone to think of projects and programs and bring their ideas to the
planning meeting on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
4. Indicated that the Art Contest for South Euless Elementary School may take place
sometime in early Fall due to student testing, etc. The Committee still has all the
drawings from the 2016 Art Contest. Ms. Wright will return the drawings to the school.
5. Leon and Jan Hogg won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the City of Euless.
Everyone congratulated the Hogg's for the honor.
STAFF REPORT
No report
COMMITTEE REPORT
1. The Player Piano has been fixed and Gary Parker is happy with the work. Mr. Parker
proposed having the same technician fix the Victrola for$175. After a brief discussion,
Linda Pool made a motion to have the Victrola fixed for the quoted cost of$175. Norma
Lively seconded the motion, all were in favor, no one opposed, motion carried.
2. Barbara Collier congratulated Weldon Cannon on recently reaching his 25th anniversary
as a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The Committee congratulated Mr.
Cannon on this prestigious achievement.

3. Marilyn Long was recently in Glen Rose, Texas and she happily reported that there were
Euless brochures displayed where she visited. Michele Burger noted that she put the
brochures there.
ADJOURNMENT
Gary Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Linda Pool seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
