AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14-66 OF THE EULESS
CODE OF ORDINANCES TO ESTABLISH SCHOOL ZONE
SPEED LIMITS FOR CERTAIN STREETS SERVING
BEARCREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL; PROVIDING A
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Bearcreek Elementary School, a new elementary school within the
Hurst — Euless— Bedford Independent School District, will open for classes in the fall of
1988; and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless desires to establish school speed zones upon
certain streets serving as access streets for pedestrian crossings of children
attending such new elementary school.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CIT Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS:
1.
Subparagraph (b) entitled "School zones enumerated:" of that Section entitled
"School Zone Speed Limits" of Sec. 14 -66. of the Euless Code of Ordinances
establishing the location of school zones for which school zone speed limits will be
applicable is herewith amended by the addition of the following new subparagraph (9)
to be and read as follows:
(9) Bearcreek Elementary School Zone:
a. On Glade Road eastbound from the 60P block through the 500 block.
Five Hundred (500) feet west of the intersection of Glade Road and
Baze Road through 150 feet east of the intersection of Glade Road
and Baze Road;
b. On Baze Road from the 2400 block through the 3000 block. From
Lot 13 Block 5 Bearcreek Est. through TR 1 B 2, 5.212 acres
B Harrington survey A 808 east boundary;
C. On Bearcreek Drive from the 200 block through the 2300 block.
From Lot 3 Block 1 Bearcreek Est. through Lot 7 Block 6 Bearcreek
Est.; and
d. On Euless North Main Street from the 2400 block through the 2500
block. From Lot 3 Block E McCormick Farm Est. through Lot 3
Block A McCormick Farm Est.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the terms and provisions of this
ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof,
shall be fined in an amount not to exceed $200.00. Each such violation shall be
deemed a separate offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder.
III.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
publication as provided by the Euless City Charter and the laws of the State of Texas.
IV.
That it is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council that the sections,
paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of this ordinance are severable, and if any
phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be declared
invalid or unconstitutional by the valid judgment or decree of any court of
competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect any of
the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of this ordinance,
since the same would have been enacted by the City Council without the
incorporation in this ordinance of any such Invalid or unconstitutional phrase, clause,
sentence, paragraph or section.
V.
By the affirmative vote of four or more of Its members, the City Council declares
that this is an ordinance for the Immediate preservation of the public peace,
property, health, and safety, and is an emergency measure within the meaning of
Article 11, Section 11 of the City Charter; and the requirement that it be read at two
meetings, as specified in Section 11, is hereby dispensed with.
PRESENTED AND PASSED on first and final reading on the 23rd day
of eA-- -s , 1988, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Euless,
Texas, by a vote of 4 ayes, 0 nayes and 0 abstentions.
