HomeMy WebLinkAbout985 09-27-1988ORDINANCE NO. 985 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE TAX ROLL FOR 1988; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on the 25th day of July , 1988, the Tax Assessor - Collector for the City of Euless, Texas, presented the Council with a tax roll effective for the 1988 tax year; and WHEREAS, the Tarrant Appraisal District has established the appraised value of certain tracts of property located within the corporate boundaries of the City of Euless, Texas; and WHEREAS, the City of Euless finds it is in the best interests of the City of Euless and the owners of those specific tracts to accept the tax roll as presented as to value submitted by the Euless Tax Assessor - Collector; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDIANED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS: SECTION 1 THAT the tax roll for the City of Euless, Texas as presented by the Euless Tax Assessor - Collector on the 25th day of July , 1988, is hereby adopted. SECTION 2 SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. That it is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council that the sections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of this ordinance are severable, and if any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be declared unconstitutional by the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality shall not affect any of the remaining phras- es, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of this ordinance, since the same would have been enacted by the City Council without the incorporation in this ordinance of any such unconstitutional phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section. SECTION 3 EMERGENCY CLAUSE. By the affirmative vote of four or more of its members, the City Council declares that this is an ordinance for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health and safety, and is an emergency measure within the meaning of Article II, Section 11, of the City Charter; and the requirement that it be read at two meetings, as specified in such Section 12, is hereby dispensed with. SECTION 4 EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as provided by the Euless City Charter and the laws of the State of Texas. PRESENTED AND GIVEN FIRST AND FINAL READING at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 27th day of September, 1988, by a vote of �5_ ayes, o nays, and 0 abstentions.
