HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-03-02 TEEN COURT ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES MEETING OF MARCH 2, 2017 STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT § CITY OF BEDFORD § The Teen Court Advisory Board of the cities of Hurst, Euless and Bedford, Texas met at 6:00 p.m. at Bedford City Hall on the 2nd day of March 2017,with the following members present: HURST: Lorrie Dickerson, Jen Tucker EULESS: Robin Edwards, Renu Sloan BEDFORD: Kathleen Toms, Janet Key, Jung Kim TEEN REPRESENTATIVES: Hurst Council Liaison— Bedford Council Liaison— Euless Council Liaison—Eddie Price HEB Teen Court Coordinator—Mindy Eichorst HEB Teen Court Assistant— Also present: Hurst City Secretary— Rita Frick Euless Staff Liaison— Bedford Court Manager—Doug Campbell Hurst Court Manager— HEB Teen Court Teen Liaison- Bedford Administrative Services Director- CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Kathleen Toms called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. with a quorum of seven Board Members present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Consider approval of the following Teen Court Advisory Board minutes: a) February 2, 2017 Regular Meeting b) February 2, 2017 Scholarship Committee Meeting c) January 26, 2017 Gala Committee Meeting Renu Sloan made a motion to approve the February 2, 2017 regular minutes, February 2, 2017 Scholarship Committee minutes, and the January 26, 2017 Gala Committee minutes and Lorrie Dickerson seconded the motion and all were in favor. 2. Introductions Vikki Aulie and Pamela Aulie,-were present to give a presentation on their silent auction company, All For G0000000d. The Advisory Board Members wanted to hear what options and items might be available for the silent auction at the Gala on April 27, 2017. OLD BUSINESS 3. Discuss ideas for fundraisers/sponsorship. No one had anything to discuss at this time. 4. Discuss and possibly take action on items as they relate to the 2017 annual Teen Court Gala. The Advisory Board Members heard a presentation from All For G0000000d who was there to explain the different options and ideas for the silent auction that will be held at the Gala on April 27, 2017. Vikki Aulie explained that she is able and willing to take credit cards, checks, or cash as payment. Ms. Aulie did explain how an online auction could be set up but there was a fee of $550. Advisory Board Member Robin Edwards made a motion to table the online auction until after the Gala and for further discussion. Lorrie Dickerson seconded the motion and all were in favor. Ms. Aulie showed the Advisory Board Members several items that will be in the silent auction. Some of the items were historical pictures, sports memorabilia,jewelry (moderate pieces which are a little less expensive), a few pieces of expensive jewelry, high-end purses, and international and local trips. She also mentioned there will be a certain amount of"No-No"bags which are bags filled with a piece of jewelry that is valued at anywhere from $60 to$265. No one can peak or feel the bags ahead of time and can be purchased for$40. Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst advised the Advisory Board Members that any other local silent auction items are welcome and bid sheets will be available soon to fill out, NEW BUSINESS 6. Set and possibly take action on a date for the next Teen Court Advisory Board Meeting. The next advisory board meeting will be on Thursday,April 6, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Bedford City Hall. REPORTS Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst went over the Coordinator's Report and Finance Report for the month of February 2017. ADJOURNMENT Lorrie Dickerson entered a motion for the meeting to be adjourned. Janet Key seconded the motion and all vol in favor.The meeting was adjourned at 7:02 p.m. aZthleen—Toms, Chairperson
