HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-12-263 7" Called Meeting of the Euless City Coun"c"il December 26, CALL TO ORDER, Mayor Fuller called the meeting to order and stated the meeting was in session, at this time, for several items of business which needed to be taken into consideration. Present were Councilmen Fuller, Braswell, Byers, and Huffman. Also present were City Secretary Vada Ferris and City Attorney James Cribbs. I. FISCAL AGENTS Mayor Fuller informed the council members that he had received a letter from Reaves, Gregory and Knowlton, Consulting Engineers, stating they would recommend Eppler, Guerin and Turner, Inc. and the First of Texas Corporation as Fiscal Agents (the council had requested at a previous meeting that the engineering f i r m be asked for a recommendation). After discussion, Councilman Byers made the motion that Eppler, Guerin and Turner, Inc, and the First of Texas Corporation be designated as Fiscal Agents for the City of Euless, Councilman Owens seconded the motion which carried unanimously. II . SIGNING OF CITY CFECKS Mayor Fuller informed the council that it is customary for the City Secretary to sign checks for a city - and - due to the necessity of a change resulting from the resignation of the City Manager, He (Mayor Fuller) recommended that Mrs. Vada Ferris, City Secretary of the City of Euless, be authorized to sign checks on all funds for the City of Euless as a co- signer with the Mayor and /or Mayor Pro Tem. Councilman Fuller made the motion to this effect which was seconded by Councilman.?Huffman. The motion carried unanimously. III. BUILDING LEASE City Attorney Cribbs explained the lease for the building at 201 West Euless Blvd. .... the building owned by Mr. Ross Cannon which is being considered for temporary city offices. After discussion, Councilman Fuller made the motion that the lease be executed. The motion was seconded by Councilman Byers and carried unanimously. (Original -copy of lease on file in Office of City Secre- tary). IV . STORAGE TANKS Mayor Fuller presented a request for installation of storage tanks from Mr. E. E.Sizemore.... request as follows: (dated) December 23, 1963 M• City Council City of Euless Euless , Texas I would like permission to put storage (oil) tanks on the southwest corner of Glade Road and Highway 157. There will be no more than five (5) storage tanks. There are no fire hazards in the o i l . A l l we w i l l be doing is loading and working on our truck here at this location. Thank you, /s/ E. E. Sizemore After discussion, Councilman Fuller made the motion that the request be denied because it is in violation of city ordinances. The motion was seconded by Councilman Huffman and carried unanimously, (Original copy of request on file in Office of City Secretary). V. DUES TO MAYORS 'COUNCIL - Mayor Fuller stated that it is customary for dues to be paid to have membership and representation in the Mayor's council. After discussion, Councilman Fuller made the motion that the ten dollar 610.00) fee be paid and the City of Euless become a member of the Mayor's Council. Councilman Braswell seconded the motion which carried unanimously. VI. C>ENEZAL DISCUSSION Several members of the council stated they had been informed of several items that appeared to be junk in the yard at 915 Henslee Drive, which is the home of Mr. J. A. Sanders. After discussion, the City Secretary was instructed to request that the City Inspector investigage the situation and report to the City Secretary... and, if this condition was in violation of ordinances of the city, Mr. Sanders should be notified of this situation and requested to remedy it. Councilman Byers stated that he considered that Mayor Fuller should have his expenses paid by the City for his travel and attendance to any function that is business for the City of Euless. It was requested that Mayor Fuller attempt to keep a record for the next month of his expenses in order for the council to ascertain what amount Mayor Fuller should receive. general consent of the members, ATTEST • _ City Secretary Vii.
