HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-04-02MINUTES OF A CALLED MEETING OF THE EU "LESS CITY COUNCIL ON APRIL 2, 1983 CALL TO ORDER 1983-058 A called meeting of the Euless City Council was .wiled to order at 7:30 P.M, Saturday, April 2, 983, in the Council Chambers of the Euless Municipal Building, by Mayor Harold D. Samuels. Counci.lrnernbers in attendance were Mayor Pro Tern Willie Mae svIcCorrnick, and Councilmen Bob Eden, Glenn Walker, Robert Pippin, and .Ion Sternfels. Staff Members Present W. M. Sustaire, City Manager Kay Rainey, City Secretary Visitors Paul Long, Mid-Cities Daily News Mr. and Mrs. Scott Heitman Mr. and Mrs. Donald 3. Lazures Mrs. Ron Sternfels Rene Sternfels CANVASS ELECTION RESULTS Mayor Samuels advised those in attendance that the purpose of this called meeting was to canvass the election results of the municipal election held this date. There were two hundred absentee ballots printed, with one hundred seventy - one persons voting absentee. 1983-059 Euless City Council Called Meeting - April 2, 1983 _ Page Two Manor Samuels recognized Mr, Howard Wilkinson, Election judge, who presented the election results, He stated that of the 171 absentee ballots cast, 165 of those were counted; six were rejected, There were 15,398 registered voters in the City of Euless, and 1295 votes were Cast at this election. A breakdown of -the vote is as follows: Harold D. Samuels received 1058 votes for Mayor; Lewis Lowe (write-in) received 1. vote for Mayor; Bob Eden received 80.3 votes for Council Place Two; Donald 3. Oxford received 490 votes for Council Place Two; Willie Mae McCormick received 73.5 votes for Council Place Four; Scott Heitman received 556 votes for Council Place .Fcc.!r. Mayor Samuels expressed the City Council's appreciation for Howard and Dorothy Wilkinson and the election clerks who assisted them for their time in conducting the election. Motion was made by Mr. Walker to accept the election results as presented i v election Judge Howard Wilkinson. Mr. Pippin seconded the motion. Aves: Messrs, Walker, Pippin, Eden, Sternfels, Mrs, McCormick Nays: None Manor Samuels declared the motion carried.
