MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, JUNE 1, 2017
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library Board was called to order by
Chairman Snitz at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017, in the Pre-Council Room in City Hall,
201 N. Ector Drive. Those present included Chairman Barney Snitz, Vice Chairman Allan Gibbs,
Board Members Jim Hamilton, Mike McGehee, Christopher McAllister, and Carol Kveck, and
Alternates Leslie Kane and Magen Brown.

ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held May 4,2017,
with correction of the spelling of Lowes. The motion was made by Vice Chairman Gibbs and
seconded by Board Member Hamilton.
ITEM NO. 3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcome all visitors present.
ITEM NO. 4 PRESENTED LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
Jim Tharp of Oxley Williams Tharp Architects, Fort Worth,Texas, gave a 3-D model presentation
of the library remodel that allowed the viewers to go on a 3 dimensional tour of the latest library
design giving detailed explanations and answering many of the Boards questions regarding study
rooms, the children's area, meeting rooms, bathroom accessories, and book storage.
Deputy City Manager, Chris Barker, discussed the potential for the bubble wall, featured in the
presentation, to be the Euless Library Foundation's next project.
Library Administrator, Sherry Knight, postponed the reports update and the reports will be sent
via email to Board members once all of the data is received for the previous month.

Ms. Knight gave an overview of upcoming programs and events:
Seasons of Sound, Fin City, .Jimmy Buffett tribute band, Texas Star Golf Course, Bird's Fort
Pavilion, Friday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m.
Goodreads Book Club on the Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library Goodreads page is reading
Black Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin for June.
,James Wand Top Secret Magic Show, City Hall Council Chambers, Saturday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Chairman Snitz inquired about the location of future board meetings while the current library is
under construction and Ms. Knight confirmed that they will potentially be held at the old fire
station on Westpark Way.
Library Board Vice-Chairman
Vice Chairman Gibbs discussed the Euless Library Foundation's (ELF) plans for fundraising for
the bubble wall and stated that it would be voted on at the June ELF meeting and fundraising would
begin in September at the Anne Hillerman event/annual meeting.
Library Board Members
Board Member Kveck commented on all the changes to come and how exciting it will be.
Board Member McAllister stated that the GAP club had two pets adopted at the HEB Reads!
Kickoff event on May 6, 2017, and complimented the success of that event.
Alternate Brown suggested that the children's programs be scheduled at times relative to
neighboring libraries to increase traffic and attendance.
ITEM NO. 6 PUBLIC COMMENTS
LuAnn Portugal of Euless, Texas, told of the recent celebration of her son obtaining his PhD and
of the past years at the library, remembering when the current library was first constructed.
ITEM NO. 7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Board Member McGehee
and seconded by Board Member Kveck. The meeting was adjourned at 8:28 p.m.
