HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-04-06 (special called)MINUTES OF A CALLED MEETING OF THE EULESS CITY COUNCIL ON APRIL 6, 1985 CALL TO ORDER A called meeting of the Euless City Council was called to order at 7:30 P.M., Saturday, April 6, 1985, in the Council Chambers of the Euless Municipal Building, by Mayor Harold D. Samuels. Councilmemhers in attendance were Mayor Pro Tem Willie Mae McCormick, and Councilmen Bob Eden, Glenn Walker, Robert Pippin, and Ron Sternfels. Staff Members Present W. M. Sjstaire, City Manager - Kay Rainey, City Secretary Tom Hart, Assistant City Manager Visitors Mr, and Mrs. John T. Lynch Mrs. Carolyn Park Dorothy Wilkinson Jerry Hodges and other interested parties CANVASS ELECTION RESULTS Mayor Samuels advised those in attendance that the purpose of this called meeting was to canvass the election results of the municipal election held this date. The City Secretary had reported that there were 100 absentee ballots printed, and 83 persons voted absentee. Mayor Samuels recognized Mrs. Dorothy Wilkinson, Alternate Election Judge, who presented the election results. Mrs. Wilkinson apologized for the delay in arriving at the results. The delay was due to the large number of write-in votes and the confusion that was apparent en the part of the voters, due to the write-in campaign. 1.985-067 Euless City Council Called Meeting - ,April 6, 1985 T Page Two She reported that per the records of the Tarrant; County Voter Registration Office, there were 23,150 registered voters in the City of Euless. Total votes cast in this election were 1092, including 83 absentee. votes< A breakdown of the vote is as follows: Harold D. Samuels received 877 votes for Mayor; Bob Eden received 645 votes for Council Place Two; Jerry Hodges received 218 write -in votes for Counci lmemher Place. Two John T. Lynch received 462 votes for Counci lr €Eember Place Four; Carolyn Park received 603 votes for Councilme €lber Place Four. Miscellaneous write-in votes were received as follows: R. G. Street:engerber - 1. vote for Mayor; L. 3. Conklin 2 votes for Mayor; Charles Peters -- 1 vote for Mayor;, Billy Owens -.2 votes: for Mayor; • Berge #rd Kellum - 1. vote or Nyor; Ken v£.rrden V. 1. vote for Place Two; Harold Samuels m 1 vote for Place i wo; Jerry Rollins T 1 vote for Place Two and Harold Hodges - 1 vote for Place Two. Mayor Samuels expressed the City Council's appreciation for Dorothy Wilkinson and the election clerks who assisted with their time in conducting the election, Motion was image by Mr. Pippin to accept the election results as presented.
