CALL TO ORDER
1987 -086
A regular meeting of the Euless City Council was called to order at
8:05 p.m., on Tuesday, May 12, 1987, it the Council Chambers of the
Euless Municipal Building, by Mayor Harold D. Samuels. Those present.
were Councilmembers Bob Eden, Ray Ozebek, Ron Sternfels, Carolyn Park,
and Mayor Pro Tem Glenn D. Walker.

ITEM NO. 1: SPECIAL PRESENTATION
Mayor Samuels presented a plaque to Mrs. Park for her service. as Mayor Pro Term
from 1986 -1987, and expressed his gratitude for the wonderful job she had done..
OLD BUSINESS
ITEM NO. 2: CONSIDERATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 929
Mr. Sternfels moved to approve second and final reading of Ordinance No. 929
for Zoning Case No, 87-04, a request of Taco Bell, 100 West. Euless Boulevard at
Main Street, for a Specific Use Permit in a C - -2 (Community Business District) to
allow reduced pole sign spacing.
Mr. Eden seconded the motion.
Ayes: Messrs. Sternfels, Eden, Walker, Ozebek, and Mrs. Park
Nays: None
Mayor Samuels declared the motion carried.
ITEM NO. 3: CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A POWr1.ON OF
BEN BOW DRIVE
A letter. from Mr, Warren Hagan was presented to the Council stating that the
petitioner, Brooks Builders, Inc., did. not feel they should pay for an appraisal
nor he required to pay the city any money for the value of that portion of
Benbow proposed for abandonment.
Mr. Sternfels moved to deny this request,
Mr. Ozebek seconded the motion,
Ayes: Messrs. Sternfels, Ozebek, Walker, Eden, and Mrs. Park
Nays: None
Mayor Samuels declared the motion carried,

NEW BUSINESS
ITEM NO. 4: PUBLIC HEARING FOR ZONING CASE NO 87-06
Mayor Samuels explained the public hearing process and opened the public hearing
for Zoning Case No. 87 -06, a request of H. T. Ardinger & Sons for a change of
zoning on Tract 3A, of the A. Barnard Survey, Abstract 107, from its present
zoning of R -1 (single family detached district) to C-2 (Community Business
District), The property, consisting of 29.4489 acres, is generally located at
the northeast corner of Minters- Chapel Road and S. H. 183.
Mr. Lynn Myer, of Paul S. Unsinger Engineering and Planning, was present
representing H. T. Ardinger & ions. He stated that the property was actually on
Airport property, that it was compatible with the other sites in the area, and
that there was no proposed use at this time, but that it would be coi*.nnercial.
Mayor Sairueis asked if there were any other proponents for the zoning change,
There being none, he asked if there were any opponents to the zoning change.
There being none and no further questions from the Council, the public hearing
was closed.
Mr. Ozebek moved to approve Zoning Case No, 87 -06, in accordance with the
Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation.
Mr. Sternfels seconded the motion.
Ayes: Messrs, Ozebek, Sternfels, Walker, Eden, and Mrs. Park
Nays: None
Mayor Samuels declared the motion carried.
ITEM NO. 5: CONSIDERATION OF PLATTING NO. 87--06
Mr. Eden moved to approve Platting No. 87-06, being a preliminary plat for Moms
Addition, containing 4.29 acres of land, located on the north side of the 300
block of S. H. 1.0, at the intersection of S. H. 10 and Martha Street, in
accordance with the Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation.
Mr. Ozebek seconded the motion.
Ayes: Messrs. Eden, Ozebek, Walker, and Sternfels
Nays: Mrs. Park

ITEM NO. 6: CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE REPEALING THE EXEMPTION OF
TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES FROM THE CITY OF EULESS' LIMITS SALES
AND USE TAX
Mr. Eden. expressed his concern for imposing more taxes; however, he realizes
there are no alternatives. Mr. McFarland reviewed the history of the $.01
limited sales tax use.
Mr. Sternfel.s moved to approve first reading of an ordinance repealing the
exemption of telecommunications services from the City of Euless' limited sales
and use tax.
Mrs. Park seconded the motion.
Ayes: Mr. Sternfels, Mrs, Park, Messrs. Eden, Walker, and Ozebek
Nays: None
Mayor Samuels declared the motion carried.
ITEM NO. 7: CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
Mr. Sustaire stated that he had nothing to report.
ITEM NO. 8: CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT
Mr. McFarland stated that he had nothing to report.
ITEM NO. 9: CITY SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 28, 1987, were approved and signed
as written.
ITER NO. 10: CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT
Mr. Knight stated that he had nothing to report.
ITEM NO. 11: CITY COUNCIL REPORTS
Mr. Sternfels commended Mrs. Park for the excellent job she had done while
serving as Mayor Pro Tem. The. Mayor and Council agreed and expressed their
appreciation again.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at
830 p.m.
