THE CITY OF
THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF EL LESS
Dear
Citizens,
As we start
another year,
I want to take
an opportun-
ity to direct you to our
Volunteer of the Year
program. Each year we
honor the volunteer,
volunteer business and
volunteer youth of the year.
If you know of someone
who you think goes above
and beyond, be sure to take
the time to nominate them
for volunteer of the year.
Please read about the
Northeast Transportation
Service. This is a great option
for many of our residents
who do not have other
transportation options.

Aquaponic Gardening
January 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Euless City Hall, 201 N. Ector Dr.
Aquaponics is a fascinating growing technique that
is beginning to play an important part in the future
of agriculture. Aquaponics is a soil -less growing
technique that utilizes fish and water as a growing
medium. Special guest speaker Warren Wilson will
teach participants about aquaponics and how you
can benefit from it in your own home. There are
several advantages of aquaponics including water
conservation, stronger root systems and organic
gardening. This presentation will help participants
understand the key principles and components
necessary for growing fish and plants together in a
recirculating soil -less system. It is geared toward
people who want to build their own aquaponics
system, but don't know where to begin. The event is
free to attend, but please make a reservation by
calling 817-685-1821 or visiting www.eulesstx.gov.

Teen Court
Volunteering for Teen Court is a fun and great way to
serve your community. Teens and adults work
together to provide defendants the opportunity to
take responsibility for their actions, while learning
about the justice system. Teen volunteers learn
public speaking skills, interviewing techniques and
administrative skills. Local attorneys and the Teen
Court Coordinator combine their time and talents
to provide all teen volunteers with thorough
training.
H.E.B. Teen Court is looking for both adult and teen
volunteers. Teen Court is a peer program that allows
juvenile first offenders with Class C misdemeanors
an alternative in the criminal justice system. Teen
volunteers serve as the attorneys, bailiffs and clerks,
while adult volunteers assist during court sessions as
jury monitors and judges. You are welcome to visit
any Teen Court session to observe and find out more
about our program! If interested, call the Teen Court
office at 817-952-2468.
