Dear Citizens,
October is a
great month to
get out in
Euless and get
to know your
neighbors. Na-
tional Night
Out on Oct. 3 is a great
opportunity to meet your
neighbors and bring back a
true sense of community. We
also have a number of other
great events for you and your
family.
The Library will have a
competition in October
called Edible Books. This is
such a fun contest! Par-
ticipants create an "edible
book" which is their inter-
pretation of a book title,
characters, the actual shape
of the book, etc. It can be as
simple or as elaborate as you
like. The only caveat is all of
the items used to make it
must be edible. I strongly
encourage you to try your
hand at making an edible
book. It's great fun!
Did you know...?
You can enter the edible books contest
on Fri., Oct. 6? www.eulesstx.gov/library

Local Option Election
Euless voters will have the chance to decide whether all types of alcoholic
beverages for off premise consumption should be sold in the City. In June,
the Euless City Council was presented with a petition with the required
number of verified signatures to call an election. In accordance with State
law, the City Council adopted a resolution in August to place the measure
on the ballot. A Local Option Election has been called for November 7,
2017.
The local option election ballot will have one proposition which will ask
voters to vote "FOR" or "AGAINST" the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages
for off-premise consumption only. Currently, city ordinance allows only for
the sale of beer and wine for off premise consumption.
Early voting will take place Oct. 23 - Nov. 3 at the Euless Library as well as
other Tarrant County early voting locations. Voting on Election Day, Nov.
7 will be from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. at designated polling locations determined
by voter precinct.

National Night Out
Tuesday, October 3, 7 p.m.
Turn on your outside lights, lock your doors and
spend the evening outside with 35 million
people in more than 11,000 communities. Each
year on National Night Out, Euless residents
proactively deter crime by organizing a variety of
special events within their neighborhoods. Get
your neighborhood involved in National Night
Out to promote police/community partnerships,
and learn about violence and drug prevention
while building neighborhood unity. Send a
message to criminals letting them know your
neighborhood is organized, involved and
fighting back. The Euless Police and Fire
Departments invite all neighborhoods in Euless
to meet in their neighborhood parks and join
with the police and the nation to "take a bite out
of crime." You can request a visit by
representatives of the Fire Department at 817-
685-1600 or the Police Department at
817-685-1536.

Fire Prevention Week
October 8 - 14
"Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!" is this year's Fire Prevention Week theme. It reinforces why
everyone needs to have an escape plan in the event of a fire. Seconds can mean the difference between
your family escaping safely from a fire or having your lives end in tragedy.
Here are some key points to include in your fire escape plan:
•Draw a map of your home with all members of your household, marking two exits from each
room and a path to the outside from each exit.
•Practice your home fire drill twice a year. Conduct one at night and one during the day with
everyone in your home, and practice using different ways out.
•Teach children how to escape on their own in case you can't help them.
•Once you get outside, stay outside. Never go back inside a burning building.
Test your knowledge about home fire escape planning and other fire safety topics with a fun, interactive
quiz at www.FirePreventionWeek.org.
