MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2017
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library Board was called to order by
Chairman Snitz at 7:02 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017, in the Conference Room of the
Library, 201 N. Ector Drive. Those present included Chairman Barney Snitz, Vice Chairman
Allan Gibbs,Board Member Jim Hamilton,and Alternates Leslie Kane and Magen Brown. Board
Members Carol Kveck, Mike McGehee and Chris McAllister were not present.

ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held August 3,
2017, with the subtraction of a comment noted. The motion was made by Alternate Kane and
seconded by Board Member Gibbs.
ITEM NO. 3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcomed all visitors present.
ITEM NO. 4 PRESENTED LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
❖ New Employee Introduction
Library Administrator, Sherry Knight, introduced to the Board Adam Cameron, a recently hired
Library Aide. Mr. Cameron then gave a brief overview of his biography.
❖ Remodel Update
Ms. Knight gave an overview and tour of the recently added sample furniture from Libra-Tech
Corporation, including modular seating, task chairs, and electronic-friendly tables and chairs.
Alternate Brown inquired about any feedback that the library has received on the furniture.

Ms. Knight stated that the children prefer to climb on the furniture more so than use it for its
intended purpose, but the electronic-friendly pieces are very popular and often used.
❖ Classes and Events Update
Ms. Knight gave an overview of the upcoming classes and events:
2017 Music Series: Colt and the Old 45s, playing at the Leon Hogg Amphitheater, Friday,
September 15, at 7:00 p.m.
A Conversation with Anne Hillerman, a book signing event sponsored by the Euless Library
Foundation(ELF) on Sunday, September 10,at 6:00 p.m.
Edible Book Contest, will be held on Friday, October 6. Entries will be due by 3:00 p.m. and
judging will be held at 4:00 p.m. Patrons can vote all weekend.
Namastay& Read is a new yoga early literacy class held every Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
Ms. Knight also gave a brief update on how back to school went at the library and what steps are
being taken for a successful transition from summer to fall.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Chairman Snitz invited all to attend the City of Euless September 11 Observation with a ceremony
to remember the lives of the heroes who were lost during the attack on our nation.
Chairman Snitz asked to receive an updated Organizational Chart for the Library employees and
complimented the new Library Rules poster and flyers.
Library Board Vice-Chairman
Vice Chairman Gibbs invited all to purchase tickets to A Conversation with Anne Hillerman and
mentioned how this event would be the kick start to the fundraising for ELF's latest art installation,
the Bubble Wall.
Vice Chairman Gibbs stated that the September 12 council meeting would be when the EDC
budget would be adopted by council.
Library Board Members
Board Member Hamilton inquired about the special library card mentioned in the Bubble Wall
brochure and Vice Chairman Gibbs explained that donors would receive a unique, one-of-a-kind
library card.
Alternate Brown expressed her hope to see all at the Anne Hillerman event to show Anne support
in Euless to hopefully attract more authors to come visit.

LuAnn Portugal of Euless, Texas, complimented Frances Allen, and her late husband Pete, at
whose residence the Anne Hillerman event will be held, and their support of the Euless Library
Foundation throughout the years.
Ms. Portugal gave a Euless development update, as well as an update of other Euless first
responders and residents that would be participating in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Dallas.
ITEM NO. 7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Vice Chairman Allan
Gibbs and seconded by Board Member Hamilton. The meeting was adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
