Parks and Leisure Services Board
May 1, 2017
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:02 p.m. on
Monday, May 1, 2017 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman Randy
Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Tiffany Smith, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, and
Jason Reyes. Members absent: Salman Bhojani and Mohib Nawab.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz and Administrative Secretary Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: Council member Jeremy Tompkins
INVOCATION
Mr. Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the April 3,
2017 regular meeting. Mr. Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was
seconded by Mr. Reyes. The vote was unanimous.

c. Tiffany Smith—Heritage and South Euless: No items to report.

111. Beautification Award
a. Chairman Jones announced the June 2017 Residential Yard of the Month winners are Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth and Jacquelyn Cantrell at 1110 Hillcrest Drive. The landscape provides a lot of
curb appeal and looks great all around. The flower beds have many varieties of plants that
accent the property such as Mexican Petunia, Drift Roses, Salvia Greggil, Lantana and
Rosemary. The large tree and well-groomed lawn make for a great focal point of the property.
Their award will be delivered to them.
b. Chairman Jones announced the June 2017 Business/Civic/Governmental Beautification
award winner goes to Charter Oak Apartments located at 105 Harwood Road. This property
catches your eye from the road and has outstanding curb appeal. The flower beds are well
kept and the landscape has many different varieties of plants including Red Yucca, Day Lilly,
Scott Lead Yucca, Indian Hawthorne, Knock Out Roses and Crape Myrtles. Their award will be
delivered to them.
11. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for April:
a. Total man hours for April 1-30=758
• 398.00 Horticulture
• 105.00 Forestry
• 92.00 Greenhouse
• 156.00 Special Projects
• 7.00 Training
➢ Trimmed trees at Heritage, S. Euless and McCormick Preserve.
➢ Trimmed trees at P.A.T.S. and SBW main drive entrance.
➢ Removed Pine tree at P.A.T.S.
➢ Trimmed Mid-Cities trail from Bob Eden to Main St.
➢ Stump grincled over 15 stumps in various parks.
V. Directors Report—Ray McDonald
• Arbor Daze was a success, despite weather.
• May 9th—Frank Ocampo, new Recreation Manager will start.
• Legends Field project update.
• Update on Euless Western Trails extension—80%complete.

No new business.
Vii. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
Council member Jeremy Tompkins thanked the staff for work on the Arbor Daze event. Also
mention the work done on the trash clean up in the creeks at the parks.

Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
