ROUNDTABLE MEETING WITH
STATE REPRESENTATIVE JONATHAN STICKLAND
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2017
6:00 P.M.
The roundtable discussion was hosted and attended by State Representative Jonathan
Stickland and his Legislative Director, Karen Ryan.
COUNCIL AND STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT
Mayor Linda Martin, Mayor Pro Tem Eddie Price and Council Members Tim Stinneford
(arrived 6:10 p.m.), Jeremy Tompkins, Linda Eilenfeldt, Harry Zimmer, City Manager
Loretta Getchell, Deputy City Manager Bob Freeman, Assistant City Manager Chris Barker,
and City Secretary Kim Sutter. Council Member Perry Bynum was absent due to a prior
commitment.

TOPICS OF DISCUSSION
Representative Stickland opened the discussion and welcomed those in attendance.
He expressed his support for the use of the"rainy day"fund to be used for disaster support
(Hurricane Harvey) and discussed the impact of the hurricane to the school districts and an
expected decline in sales taxes.
Additionally, discussion ensued related to the recent legislative session, including the
special session. Topics of discussion included property tax reform, regulation of short term
rental properties (Airbnb's), healthcare, public transportation, mental health, and the
implementation and impact of the small cell node legislation.

The roundtable meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
