Minutes
October 9, 2017
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson, Mavy Wright, called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was held at
the Euless City Hall, Euless.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Doris Brown, Alford Browning, Bill Byers, Iris Elliott, Norma Lively, Don Martin, David Massey,
Anniece McKanna, Gary Parker, Faye Stinneford, Helen Voss and Mavy Wright.
VISITORS PRESENT
Mayor Linda Martin
STAFF PRESENT
Projects Coordinator, Ofa Faiva-Siale; Director of Parks and Community Services, Ray McDonald
and Recreation Manager, Frank Ocampo.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Doris Brown made a motion to approve the minutes and Faye Stinneford seconded the motion,
all were in favor, minutes approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The previous balance was $10,754.11. There was a deposit of$71. $14 was from the money jar
and $57 was from the moneybox, leaving a current balance of$10,825.11.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Docent Reports/Recruitment—Mavy Wright
a. Parkwood Retirement Home visited Heritage Park and there were about 30
people.
b. A docent signup sheet was passed around for docent volunteers for the October
open house on Saturday, October 14, 2017. The facilities will be open from noon
to 5 p.m. The Greek Orthodox Church Food Festival will be on the same day.
2. Acquisition
a. Bill Byers received a small blowtorch from Helen Voss.

3. Facebook—Mavy Wright spoke with Bill Golden and Mr. Golden will be able to post
various announcements on Facebook for the committee. Linda Pool will also post
announcements on Facebook.
4. Plaque—No new report
5. Euless Marker—No report
6. Display Signs—No report
7. Publicity/Program/Speakers—No report
8. Historical Albums—Marilyn Long will present the completed "Fallen Police Officer" album
in the near future. Doris Brown indicated that she and Ms. Long have discussed leaving
the photo albums completed by Betty Fuller as is. They will start new albums as needed
for various subjects.
9. Heritage Park Coordinator—No report
10. Photography/Oral History—A chairperson is still needed for this sub-committee.
11. Evolving History Sub-committee—A chairperson for this committee is needed. This
committee's goal is to take photographs of various locations and maintain photographic
records of changes around the city. Helen Voss may be able to take some photographs.
Photographs are available at Planning and Economic Development and the Assistant to
the City Manager's offices. If the committee is interested in looking through the City's
photographs, they may contact Betsy Deck or Mike Collins to do so. Doris Brown
mentioned the possibility of the Photo Album sub-committee working together with the
Evolving History sub-committee on collecting information.
12. Artifact Recovery—No report
13. Historical Tree Program—No report
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. The committee previously discussed cleaning out and turning the McCormick Barn into a
working barn for display purposes, etc. Photographs of all the items stored inside the
Barn was shown to the committee. The members discussed various processes to begin
cleanup. Helen Voss will help look for a group to volunteer to help the committee with
the cleanup. Mavy Wright will contact a group from Trinity High School to see if they can
volunteer to help. The City removed the pile of lumber that was stored in the Barn.
2. The Committee will not be participating in the Halloween event this year.
3. There is leftover food from the Blacksmith Shop grand opening event back in the
summer. The committee discussed removing, donating and/or cleaning out the food
items. Gary Parker will work on removing some of the items.
4. Will contact South Euless Elementary school about the art contest and report back to the
committee.
5. Weldon Cannon emailed descriptions for all the items drawn on the Mural. The
committee wanted descriptions of the drawings for docent purposes.

COMMITTEE REPORT
1. Suzy McCormick and Marilyn Long are not able to attend the meeting. Mavy Wright
spoke with Bill Golden; he is unable to attend the meetings but would like to remain on
the contact list. Weldon Cannon is no longer able to make the long drive down to the
regular meetings. He will attend when possible and contact the Chairperson as needed.
2. Faye Stinneford has tickets for the Citizens Fire Academy fundraising dinner. She invited
everyone to buy tickets and attend if they would like.
3. Don Martin gave a DVD containing photographs from the Wigwam Skating Ring. The
family that owned the skating ring donated the photographs.
ADJOURNMENT
Faye Stinneford made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Helen Voss seconded the motion.
Motion approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:07 a.m.
