HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-01-21 (Special Mtg) MINUTES MA SPBMALICRITNG OF THE EULESS cm aiicrL JANUARY 21, 1993 CALL TO GREER A special meeting of the Euless City Council was called to order by Mayor Harold Samuels at 5:20 p.m. , on Thursday, January 21, 1993, in the Administration Building Conference Room at Euless City Hall, 201 North Ector Drive, Euless. Those present included Mayor Harold Samuels, Mayor Pro Tem Mary Lib Saleh, Council Members Frank Douglass, Todd Smith, Bobby Baker, Peter Staks, Henry Boatright and City Secretary Susan Crim. APPROVAL, 1Es1IYPICN M). 93-797 Councilman Frank Douglass moved to approve Resolution No. 93-797 canvassing the returns and declaring the results of a special election held in the City of Euless on January 16, 1993, for the adoption or rejection of the levy and collection of an additional one-half of one percent sales and use tax proposition as follows: PROPOSITION The levy and collection of an additional one-half of one percent sales and use tax within the City pursuant to the provisions of Section 4B, Article 5190.6, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, as amended (the "Act") , with the proceeds thereof to be used and applied in the manner and to any of the purposes authorized by Section 4B of the Act, including, but not limited to, parks and park facilities, library improvements, and economic development. Votes cast FUR the proposition 973 Votes cast WAINEW the proposition 769 Councilman Bobby Baker seconded the motion. Ayes: Council Members Frank Douglass, Todd Smith, Bobby Baker Peter Staks and Henry Boatright, Mayor Pro Tem Mary Lib Saleh and Mayor Harold Samuels Nays: None Mayor Samuels declared the motion carried. The total votes cast in the election were 1,742, with 302 of those being cast during early voting.
