HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-02-02 (Worksession) CITY COUNCIL BARBECUE WITH ARLINGTON CITY COUNCIL and CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION The members of the Euless City Council were served barbeque by the Arlington City Council Members as a result of a wager between the two mayors regarding the outcome of the state football playoffs in which Arlington High School was defeated by the Trinity High School Trojans. The event was held Tuesday, February 2, 1993 in the Administration Building Conference Room of the Municipal Complex, 201 North Ector, Euless, at 4:15 p.m. The Arlington City Council Members returned to their City at 5:30 p.m. Following the barbeque the Euless City Council Members held a worksession at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the implementation of the half cent sales tax which was approved by the citizens in an election held on January 16, 1993. Those attending included: Mayor Harold Samuels Mayor Pro Tem Mary Lib Saleh Councilman Frank Douglass Councilman Todd Smith Councilman Bobby Baker Councilman Peter Staks ... Councilman Henry Boatright City Manager Tom Hart City Secretary Susan Crim Administrative Assistant Modesto Mundo Director of Development and Operations Joe Hennig Director of Fiscal and Human Resources Debra Forte' Director of Economic Development/Administrative Services Tom Cox Director of Community Services Rick Herold Recreation Manager Julia Wakeley Library Manager Betty Yarbrough Parks and Leisure Services Board Chairman Leon Hogg Miles Pritchard City Manager Tom Hart reviewed a memorandum from City Attorney Bob McFarland regarding the implementation of the half cent sales tax. Various uses of the tax for economic development were discussed as well as for library and park improvements. The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m. Susan Crim, CM City Secretary
