Administration Building Conference Room. Those present included Mayor Mary
Lib Saleh, Mayor Pro Tem Bobby Baker, Council Members Frank Douglass, Todd

DISCUSSION WITH LIBRARY ARCHITECTS
City Manager Tom Hart reviewed with the City Council their discussion at the
mid-winter retreat in January, 1994, that the proposed library would be
approximately 42,000 square feet or four million dollars whichever is
greater.
Phillips Swager Associates architect Denelle Wrightson distributed cost
estimates for 5 different schemes and discussed the total square footage, the
finished-out square footage and the projected cost of each scheme.
The Council Members discussed the various options and came to the consensus
that the proposals in Scheme A seemed most closely related to their choices
to stay within four million dollars. They agreed the architects would
probably need to cut the total square footage to about 36,000 with actual
library space occupying about 20,000 square feet with meeting space in two
rooms of approximately 6,000 square feet and a shelled space of approximately
8,000 - 10,000 square feet.
The Council Members discussed the acquisition of land on the West side of
Shepherd Drive and indicated the City should acquire only that property up to
the line the State of Texas will need to acquire as right-of-way for the
rebuilding of State Highway 183.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
