MEETING WITH STATE AND FEDERAL ELECTED OFFICIALS
DECEMBER 12, 1994
The members of the Euless City Council hosted State and Federal elected
officials at a luncheon meeting on Monday, December 12, 1994, at 11 :30 a.m.
in the downstairs conference room of Building A, 201 North Ector Drive for a
discussion of the Tax Increment Financing District being proposed in the
City of Euless.
Those in attendance included Mayor Mary Lib Saleh, Council Members Frank
Douglass, Todd Smith, Glenn Walker and Henry Boatright, Congressman Joe
Barton, State Representative Nancy Moffat, Peggy Dodson representing State
Senator Chris Harris and Nathan Ludvijson representing State Senator Mike
Moncrief, Harold Samuels, City Manager Tom Hart, City Secretary Susan Crim,
Assistant City Manager Joe Henn i g and Director of Economic Development Tom
Cox.
Mayor Saleh welcomed the visitors and asked each of them if they would like
to make any comments.
Congressman Joe Barton gave an overview of the ways in which he expects the
United States Congress to operate differently in 1995. He briefed the group

on the "Contract with America", the new program to be enacted that will make
the legislators much more accountable.
State Representative Nancy Moffat outlined the issues she expects to be
prominent in the 1995 Texas State Legislature.
Peggy Dodson reported on Senator Harris' recuperation from his recent
illness and pledged his support and service to his constituents.
Nathan Ludvijson offered Senator Moncrief's services to the City of Euless.
City Manager Tom Hart appealed to Congressman Barton to look for ways to
repair the damage that was done to the City of Euless through the trucking
legislation passed last August which prevents future taxation on rental
cars.
Mr. Hart then presented the City's proposal for a Tax Increment Financing
District for the development of a mall and explained the benefits to be
gained by the taxing entities who are being asked to participate (City of
Euless, Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District, Tarrant County,
Tarrant County Junior College, and the Tarrant County Hospital District) .
The meeting was adjourned at 1 :30 p.m.
