ITEM NO. 2: DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED ATHLETIC COMPLEX AND
PROPOSED GOLF COURSE
%ow Mr. Terry Cheek, Schrickel, Rollins & Associates, outlined the proposed athletic complex
concept, showing the Council Members his firm's design sketches. Mr. Cheek announced
plans to tour athletic complexes in Plano, Garland and Colleyville on Saturday, May 13.
Mr. Cheek explained how each of the activities (softball, batting cages, driving range, etc.)
along with concession stands, restrooms, etc. would interact with each other. There would
be approximately 1700 parking spaces. The complex would cost $9 million if all of the
facilities were built at once at today's prices. Mr. Cheek illustrated how the athletic
complex sketch will fit with Keith Fosters design for the golf course.
Mr. Keith Foster, Keith Foster Design Group, presented the layout he developed for the
proposed golf course and showed how it would work in coordination with the athletic
complex. He stated the clubhouse would be north of South Pipeline Road and would have
approximately 210 parking spaces. Mr. Foster described how various holes would be
unique to this golf course. He believes hole #15 will be the most talked about hole of the
course and, in fact, this course will be exceptional in spire of its limitations. Mr. Foster
presented the name "Texas Star" and told how we could tie the name to not only the City
of Euless, but also to Texas State history.
Council Members discussed the possible location of tennis courts along Airport Drive, south
of Highway 10.
