Dear Citizens,
December can
be a stressful,
hectic month,
but it's also a
great time to
focus on the
things that matter, such as
sharing holiday celebrations
with your loved ones. Our great
City offers plenty of
opportunities for you to enjoy
the season with friends and
family. Skating with Santa at Ice
Fest or watching the Parade of
Lights is a great way to start.
Both of these fun events occur
on December 2nd and they are
sure to put you in a holiday
mood! The following Saturday
starts with Breakfast with Santa,
followed by the Heritage Park
Christmas Celebration in the
afternoon. Read the details
about these special events and
others in this newsletter.
I hope you schedule time for
these special festivities, so you
can make holiday memories
your family will treasure for
years!
Did you know...?
Euless recycles live Christmas trees -
remove all decorations, nails, etc. and
your tree can be used to make mulch!

The best way to get rid of FOG is to pour used
fat or grease into a can, milk carton or other
container, allow it to harden in the refrigerator
and then dispose of it in the household trash.
When disposing of oil that may not harden in
the refrigerator, soak up the oil with paper
towels or newspapers and dispose in the trash.
Similarly, use paper towels to wipe off excess oil
and grease from dirty dishes.
Greasy foods to avoid putting down the kitchen
drain:
• Meat fats
• Cooking oil
• Shortening
• Butter and margarine
• Gravy and sauces
• Food scraps
• Baking goods
• Dairy products
Other items to never wash down your drain or
toilet:
• Coffee grinds
• Egg shells
• Large chunks of food garbage
• Produce stickers
• Wet wipes
• Feminine hygiene products
• Paper towels
• Flushable cat litter
• Motor oil, transmission fluids,
anti-freeze or other toxic chemicals
• Solvents, paints, turpentine, nail polish,
polish remover
• Flammable or explosive substances
• Corrosive substances that are either
acidic or caustic
• Prescription and over-the-counter
medications
Being mindful of what goes down your drain
pipes will benefit you and your neighborhood.

Fats and Grease Don't
Belong in the Drain
As you prepare for your holiday parties and family
gatherings, it's important to remember how to
safeguard your drain pipes and city sewer lines.
You should never pour Fats, Oils and Grease
(FOG) down the sink, garbage disposal or toilet.
FOG sticks to the interior surface of the sewer
pipes, hardens over time and eventually may
cause sewage to backup and spill in your home.
Running hot water as you pour the grease down
the drain only breaks up grease temporarily,
because as it goes down the line it cools and
hardens - in either your pipes or the sewer line.
