HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-04-17 (HEB Cities and ISD) CITY OF EULESS JOINT MEETING WITH CITIES OF HURST AND BEDFORD AND HURST-EULESS-BEDFORD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT APRIL 17, 2001 OLD BEDFORD SCHOOL, 2400 SCHOOL LANE BEDFORD, TEXAS A meeting was held on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. in the Old Bedford School, 2400 School Lane, Bedford, Texas, with representatives from the City Councils of the Cities of Euless, Hurst and Bedford and the Board of Trustees of the Hurst-Euless- Bedford Independent School District for the purpose of sharing opportunities and challenges that are similar among the entites. Those present from the City of Euless included: Mayor Mary Lib Saleh Mayor Pro Tern Leon Hogg Council Member Carl Tyson Council Member Glenn Porterfield Council Member Veva Lou Massey City Manager Joe Hennig Deputy City Manager Gary McKamie City Secretary Susan Crim United States Congressman Joe Barton gave a report on the activities of the 170th congressional district related to energy, clean air and environmental issues, transportation, redistricting and tax reform. Michael Morris, Director of Transportation with the North Central Texas Council of Governments, discussed the Trinity Railway Express, rail access to the DFW International Airport, the Cottonbelt Rail Corridor Study, low emitting clean vehicles, the Partners in Mobility presentation to the Texas Transportation Commission, the Railroad Grade Crossing Safety Program, the Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program and freeway improvements on SH183, SH121, SH114, SH26 and FM157 including arterial improvements. Curtis Hanan with the Texas Department of Transportation discussed planned Airport Freeway improvements. Dan Petty, President of the North Texas Commission (NTC), discussed Partners in Mobility, the 2012 Olympic Bid, and the prospect of the Boeing headquarters relocating to the DFW area. He distributed the NTC edition of the 2000 census report. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Susan Crim, CM City Secretary
