HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-01-22 (Town Hall Mtg) TOWN HALL MEETING EULESS CITY HALL 201 NORTH ECTOR DRIVE, EULESS, TEXAS THURSDAY, JANUARY 22, 2004 CALL TO ORDER Police Chief Leonard Carmack called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. PANEL The panel for the Town Hall meeting included Mayor Pro Tern Carl Tyson, Council Member Charlie Miller, Deputy City Manager Gary McKamie, Police Captain Harland Westmoreland, Fire Assistant Chief Robert Isbell, Parks and Community Services Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, Director of Economic Development Bill Ridgway, Director of Planning and Development Mike Collins and City Engineer Robert Barker. OTHER STAFF AND COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT Fire Chief Lee Koontz, Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Morris, Fire Marshal Paul Smith, Assistant Police Chief Bob Freeman, Police Captain Roger Mangum, Police Lieutenants L.. John Williams, Steve Eskew, Joe Kraft, Police Sergeant Gary Landers, Police Officer Tony Burnett, Police Victims Assistant Kathy Haecker, Director of Public Works Ron Young, Public Works Manager Chris Barker, Special Projects Manager Lou Baum, and City Secretary Susan Crim. CITIZENS PRESENT Jan Hogg, Keith Eggers, Linda Martin, Carroll Scott, Barney Snitz, Lark Koontz and Billy Owens. TOPICS OF DISCUSSION Speed limit by Midway Park Code enforcement including junk cars in yards Zoning for single family off Fuller Wiser Road Frustration with voice mail Speeding on Ash Lane Compliments to Street Department, Animal Control Services, Police and Fire Departments Problems with coyotes Quick Trip, good business to have in Euless Highway 10 clean up Speed bumps on Lamar Drive Empty police car as traffic monitor Town Hall Meeting Minutes January 22, 2004 Page 2 Motorized scooters on streets Sign regulation on Highway 10 similar to Main Street Major restaurant on Highway 157 Youth vandalism in area Youth curfew New public safety laws City Engineer Robert Barker gave a presentation on street projects including North Main Street, West Pipeline Road between Raider Drive and Highway 10, Glade Road, and West Pipeline Road from Raider Drive west to the City Limits. He also reported on overlay projects scheduled in the near future and the status of new traffic signals at the intersections of Harwood Road and Aransas Drive and at Driftwood Drive at Pipeline Road. He gave an update on the water and wastewater replacement projects. Director of Economic Development Bill Ridgway gave an update on vacant buildings and land in the city that are being marketed for development. Mayor Pro Tem Carl Tyson reported on the recent ordinance approved by the City Council which will freeze the amount of taxes for disabled and senior citizens. Council Member Charlie Miller discussed the reduction in ad valorem property taxes during the last 10 years. Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson reported on park projects. Police Sergeant Gary Landers gave an update on Homeland Security and how the City of Euless is complying. ADJOURN Chief Carmack adjourned the Town Hall Meeting at 9:05 p.m. ATTEST: de->?
