Minutes
November 13, 2017
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson, Mavy Wright, called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was held at
the Euless City Hall, Euless.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Doris Brown, Alford Browning, Michele Burger, Bill Byers, Iris Elliott, Gary Fieldsend, Norma
Lively, Marilyn Long, Don Martin, David Massey, Veva Lou Massey, Anniece McKanna, Suzy
McCormick, Gary Parker, Linda Pool and Mavy Wright.
VISITORS PRESENT
Mayor Linda Martin
STAFF PRESENT
Director of Planning and Economic Development, Mike Collins, Projects Coordinator, Ofa Faiva-
Siale; Director of Parks and Community Services, Ray McDonald and Recreation Manager, Frank
Ocampo.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Norma Lively made a motion to approve the minutes and Don Martin seconded the motion, all
were in favor, minutes approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The previous balance was $10,825.11. There was a deposit of$33. $20 was from the money jar
and $13 was from the moneybox, leaving a current balance of$10,858.11.
VISITORS REPORT
Director of Planning and Economic Development, Mike Collins, gave an interesting presentation
about development projects going on all over Euless from Glade Park in north Euless, all the way
to south Euless and elsewhere. The committee was impressed with the progress and thanked
Mr. Collins for all the great work he does for the city.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Docent Reports/Recruitment

a. About 27 people toured Heritage Park during open house on Saturday, October
14, 2017. Mavy Wright was very thankful for part time staff member, Alex Harvey,
who did a great job helping the committee that Saturday.
b. There were approximately 29 visitors to open house on Saturday, November 11,
2017. The Jernigan family visited the facilities and so did a Nepalese family.
c. Docents are needed for Christmas in the Park on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
d. Students from South Euless Elementary School will be touring Heritage Park on
Thursday, November 30, 2017 between 10a—Noon.

4. Plaque—No Report
5. Euless Marker—No Report
6. Display Signs—No Report
7. Publicity/Program/Speakers— Michele Burger reported that she has been dropping off
Euless brochures and information to several cities including Tyler, Brown,Abilene,
Comanche, the State Fair of Texas and several others.
8. Historical Albums—Marilyn Long and Doris Brown completed the "Fallen Officer" album.
Everyone like the album and expressed their appreciation to Ms. Long and Ms. Brown.
Ms. Long discussed other albums that could be worked on in the future.
9. Heritage Park Coordinator—
a. Mavy Wright asked for volunteers to attend a McCormick Barn cleaning day on
Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 8am to Noon. One of the local Tongan
churches volunteered to help the committee clear out the barn. Gary Parker and
Bill Byers and others may be attending.
b. Two new shelves have been installed in the kitchen.
10. Photography/Oral History—No Report
11. Artifact Recovery—No report
12. Historical Tree Program—an email from Andy Weinzapfel was read to the committee.
Acorns from several different historical sites around the area has been collected for the
historic tree program.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Thanked staff for fixing the AC in the Fuller House.
2. The Highway 183 overpass fence section has been installed on the property. Members
asked if a description plaque could be installed with the display.
3. Weldon Cannon emailed about updating a couple of historical websites as information
about Euless are outdated on these sites. Mayor Linda Martin and staff will review the
information and work on an update for the websites.

1. Michele Burger reported that ex-Euless Council member, Ronald Sternfels, recently
passed away. He was a council member from 1980-1990.
2. Don Martin reported that there will be a new Fire Engine "push-in" event at Fire Station
#3 today at 3:30 p.m. Everyone was invited to attend the event.
ADJOURNMENT
Alford Browning made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Suzy McCormick seconded the motion.
Motion approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:35 a.m.
