Euless City Manager Retiring After 31 Years
On August 12, 1957, three years after the City
of Euless was incorporated and five years before its
charter was adopted, a young man by the name of
W. M. "Blackie" Sustaire was hired as Euless M
Police Chief, the city's first and only employee.
Seventeen years later "Blackie" was appointed
acting city manager until the city could find a new
city manager—he never left the city manager's seat!
Since January 1975 the City of Euless has benefited
from its city manager's talents, knowledge, exper-
tise, and God-given ability to visit, understand and
communicate with his community.
"Blackie" will retire January 31, 1989, and
"his shoes will be hard to fill." He and his wife,
Maxine, plan to travel and just enjoy the city that
they love and helped develop.
THANK YOU, "BLACKIE"!
