We now have
enhanced capabilities with
subscribers and can send alerts
for a variety of situtations such
as air quality issues, crime
alerts, power outages and road
closures in addition to weather-
related issues. In addition, we
can send links to websites,
include pictures and pair it with
other social media such as
Facebook and Twitter. The
Emergency Management Divi-
sion of the Police Department
has worked hard to set up this
new system and we hope you
will subscribe to it.
There are some great events
scheduled in February that are
designed for the ones you love.
Whether it be the Daddy/
Daughter Dance or the
Valentine's Dinner at Texas Star,
we hope you will take a few
hours to spend it with someone
you love. It's a good opp-
ortunity to slow down and have
a little fun.

How to Attract Monarch
Butterflies to Your Yard
February 1, 7 p.m., Euless City Hall, 201 N. Ector Dr.
Learn how easy it is to create your own Monarch Waystation! A waystation
is simply a garden that provides food and habitat for Monarch butterflies
and nurtures them through their complete life cycle.
Texas Master Naturalist Carol Clark will present the amazing story of the
Monarch butterfly life cycle and migration, clarify some common
misconceptions about Monarchs, explain historic and current threats to
Monarch populations and show why Texas is a pivotal location for Monarchs'
future success. The program also covers real steps you and other North Texas
residents can take to help bolster the Monarch population, and what to plant
to feed Monarchs. In addition, Carol will provide a list of plants. Come join
us Thursday evening for this exciting program.
Carol Clark is an amateur botany enthusiast, a longtime member of the
Native Plant Society of Texas and is now a Conservation Specialist with
Monarch Watch. She and her husband own and operate Clark Haven Farm,
a wildlife preserve and custom wildflower seed business in Cooke County.
Carol grew up with a nature photographer father and wildlife artist brother,
and has spent much of her life exploring the great outdoors. Her favorite
things to do are leading discovery walks in local natural areas, as well as
finding and photographing interesting plants and insects.

event you've all been waiting for. Grab your
favorite little lady and get ready for a night you'll
both remember forever. Enjoy a night of dancing,
refreshments, goody bags, photos and fun. Create
memories that will last a lifetime for you and the
most important girl in your life. All ages are
welcome.
This event sells out quickly, so please get your
tickets early. Tickets are $10 per person and are
available at the Euless Family Life Center beginning
January 15. For additional information, please call

Residents Can
Receive Local Alerts
Through Nixle
The City of Euless has partnered with Nixle to
provide an Emergency Notification System to
alert residents in real-time about critical
emergency information and community
advisories in Euless.
Notifications may be sent for air quality issues,
crime alerts, power outages, road closures,
mosquito control, water outages and weather-
related issues such as ice and flooding.
Subscribers have the ability to select how they
would like to receive notifications. This could be
to a home, cell or business phone, email, text
message or hearing impaired receiving devices
at no cost.
Messages are initiated by the Emergency
Management Division of the Euless Police
Department as one of several methods of
relaying vital information to citizens.
As a resident, there are several simple ways to
register:
1. Text EULESS to 888777 from your
mobile phone
2. Go to www.eulesstx.gov and sign up via
the Nixle Widget
Once registered, residents will receive a
confirmation text to their mobile device.
Residents may also customize their alert settings
by going to www.nixle.com and creating a User
Profile.
All Alerts will be targeted geographically,
allowing residents to receive localized, relevant
alerts from the City of Euless. Nixle Alerts can
be sent via Text, Email, Voice, Web, Social Media,
and the Nixle Mobile App in an instant. Nixle is
partnered with NLETS for data security, as well
as the National Center for Missing and Exploited
Children, the National Blue Alert Network, and
Google for reach and two-way information
exchange.

Give a Bubble!
Have you heard about the 2020 remodel of the
Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library? One of
the most distinctive additions will be the
gorgeous art installation of the Bubble Wall.
Features of the Bubble Wall will include LED
color-changing lighting and a completely sealed
water system requiring no maintenance.
Imagine entering the library to be greeted with
the changing colors and constant movement of
encapsulated bubbles floating up a wall! This
beautiful Bubble Wall will be the focal point
and highlight of the re-imagined library
entrance and public lounge space. At 10 feet tall
and 30 feet wide, you can enjoy the glass wall
from either side. Continue past the Bubble Wall
to enter the main library area, or walk
"through" the bubbles to access the lounge
area, which will be a multi-purpose space,
accessible even when the library is closed, with
technology, comfortable seating and vending
available.
The Bubble Wall is the latest art installation of the
Euless Library Foundation (ELF), which has been
providing public art to enrich the Euless
community for over 20 years. ELF is raising money
for the Bubble Wall and hopes to reach its
$100,000 goal by August 2018.

(The Euless Library Foundation is a nonprofit
organization and donations are tax deductible.)
You can donate online by using PayPal®, a credit
card or an electronic check (echeck). Online
payments will incur an 8% processing fee. Or, you
can avoid the processing fee by mailing a check to
the Euless Library Foundation. For information on
