Members of the Euless City Council attended a joint meeting of the Hurst-Euless-
Bedford Economic Development Foundation along with representatives from the
City of Hurst, City of Bedford, Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District
and the HEB Chamber of Commerce on Monday, February 16, 2009, at 6:00
p.m. at the Pat May Center in Bedford, Texas.
Representatives from the City of Euless included:
Mayor Mary Lib Saleh
Mayor Pro Tem Linda Martin and Don Martin
Council Member Leon Hogg
Council Member Donna Mickan
Council Member Perry Bynum and Lisa Bynum
City Manager Gary McKamie
Deputy City Manager Loretta Getchell
City Secretary Susan Crim
Euless City Manager Gary McKamie, Hurst Economic Development Director
Mike Morgan, and Bedford Economic Development Director Bill Syblon gave
development updates of the activity in their respective city during the past year.
Robert Kembel, President of Huffines Communities, addressed the group with a
report on the 3400-home, master-planned community in north Arlington on
SH157 — the Viridian development. The 2000 acre development northeast of
Collins Street and Green Oaks Boulevard is expected to feature a town center
with loft apartments over offices and shops, as well as village-like
neighborhoods. Kembel said his company has budgeted $40 million for wetlands
restoration and landscaping for the area, and they are working to obtain
recognition for its sustainability initiatives from Audubon International.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
