BUDGET WORKSESSION
August 6, 7 and 8, 2010
Budget work sessions were held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 6, 7 and 8,
2010, at the Star Brand Ranch Conference Center, 1182 Star Brand Drive, Post Office
Box 1077, Kaufman, Texas 75142 to discuss the proposed budget and related items
for Fiscal Year, 2010-2011.

The meetings were convened at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6, and adjourned at 5:30
p.m.; and at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, and adjourned at 4:30 p.m.; and at 8:30
a.m. on Sunday, August 8, and adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
Individual topics of discussion included:
Insurance and Benefits Risk Management
Equipment Replacement Hotel and Motel Tax
Half Cent Sales Tax Crime Control District
Car Rental Tax Water and Sewer rates
Various Enterprise Funds Debt Funds
Personnel Legal Services/Expenses
Capital Improvement Plan Economic Development
Development and Code Update 5 Year Budget Plan
Texas Star Sports Complex Goals and Objectives
Texas Star Golf and Conference Centre
A discussion was held with representatives from Gideon Toal regarding the
development planned for the property known as Glade Parks on the west side of State
Highway 121 at Glade Road.
The council members discussed all sections of the general Operating and Capital
Improvements Budget for Fiscal Year 2010-2011 but made no final decisions.
Announcement was made that a public hearing will be held by the council members to
receive public input on the Operating and Capital Budget at the Regular Council
Meeting on August 31, 2010, and the budget will be considered for approval at that
time. The tax rate will also be considered for approval at that time.
