— U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) presented Mayor Mary Lib Saleh of Euless
military medals her husband, Raymond L. Saleh, had never received at the
Congressman's district office on Friday, April 30.
—
Staff Sergeant Raymond L. Saleh served in the United States infantry in World War II
from 1944 to 1946. He was involved in the European Theater of Operations for sixteen
months which was responsible for Allied victories north of Italy and the Mediterranean
Coast.
—
Raymond passed away in October 2006. Since then, Congressman Marchant has
worked to retrieve the medals Raymond never received from World War II.
—
Mayor Saleh was accompanied by her family to receive her husband's overdue medals.
Congressman Marchant presented a framed shadowbox with a total of ten medals
displayed within it.

"Each medal is representative of a story of courage, sacrifice, and love of country," said
Marchant. "It is an honor to recognize your husband's service, and a distinct privilege to
be able to present you the medals your husband so deservedly earned." '
Upon receiving the medals, Mayor Saleh and her family were amazed at how decorated
and distinguished Raymond was. '
"Ray never shared his experiences of war with us," said Mayor Saleh. "Looking at all ,
these medals reminds of how wonderful he was. He was just so neat."
After the presentation, Mayor Lib and her family enjoyed a reception where they shared
memories of Raymond with the Congressman.
If you are a veteran or know of one in Congressional District 24 who has earned awards
for their military service but not yet received recognition, please contact John Hayes at
Rep. Marchant's district office at (972)-556-0162.

Euless studying an upscale retail development off
' Texas 121
Saturday, May 15, 2010 BY TERRY EVANS tevans@star-telegram.com
' EULESS -- Southlake has Town Square, and Arlington has the Highlands lifestyle
g 9 Y
center.
' Now Euless is hoping to enter the upscale-retail game with a development called ed Glade
Parks.
' Last week, the City Council authorized hiring a consultant tant to study the feasibility of
Glade Parks, which would include shops, restaurants, town homes and office space.
' The development would stretch along T '
p g exas 121 s western frontage road, from near
Glade Road to Cheek-Sparger Road. A cluster of buildings near the main entrance
' would feature a clock tower as a centerpiece.
Deputy City Manager Loretta Getchell stressed that what is ultimately built may bear
' little resemblance to the concept drawing. Chicago-based Rubloff Development Group
owns the property.
' Mayor Mary Lib Saleh said the council would like the property developed as soon as
possible. She said residents who see earthmovers working elsewhere in the city wonder
' why nothing's happening on such a prime retail spot.
"I bet I have more questions about that particular piece of property than any other in
Euless," she said.
The study will allow the city to determine whether it should prepare the land for
development or wait and let the developers do it at their own pace, Saleh said.
"The project right across 121 is successful," Saleh said. "Every building is occupied and
' doing well. It indicates that a more upscale development [on the west side] would be as
successful."
' Surrounded by Euless, Bedford, Grapevine and Colleyville, the property is all the more
attractive for its proximity to Texas 121, Saleh said.
' Getchell said that the city asked Gideon Toal, a Fort Worth-based consulting firm, to
study such issues as development incentive options and the development's projected
taxable valuation.
' A tax increment financing zone for the 193-acre tract could be essential to kick-start
development, Getchell said.

Some cities use TIFs to help developers pay for projects that could spur more economic
development.
Getchell said that a timeline for construction depends on the study's results and the
economy.
"The feasibility study should be completed by the end of the year," she said. "We should
have some answers then, like what we could expect to develop on the site, the taxable
valuations from those expected developments, the development's economic impact on
the rest of the city." I
