Minutes
February 12, 2018
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson, Mavy Wright, called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was held
at the Euless City Hall, Euless.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Doris Brown,Al Browning,Joe Cannon,Weldon Cannon, Iris Elliott, Gary Fieldsend, Norma
Lively, Marilyn Long, Don Martin,Anniece McKanna, Suzy McCormick, Gary Parker, Helen
Payton, Faye Stinneford, Helen Voss, Michelle Burger, Barbara Collier and Mavy Wright.
VISITORS PRESENT
Mayor Linda Martin, Patty Benoit.
STAFF PRESENT
Senior Police Officer Chris White, Director of Parks and Community Services, Ray McDonald
and Recreation Manager, Frank Ocampo.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Don Martin made a correction to Andy Weinzapfel's name, noting that the "n" was left out
of his first name. Al Browning made a motion to approve the minutes with the correction.
Motion was seconded. All were in favor, minutes approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The previous balance was $10,844.30. There was a total deposit of$17. $5 was from the
moneybox and $12 was from the money jar. Leaving a current balance of$10,861.30.
VISITORS REPORT
Officer White gave a presentation on what general practices you should make as part of
your day to avoid being a victim of crime.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Docent Reports/Recruitment
a. Docent volunteer sign-up sheets were passed around for the February and
March open house dates.
2. Acquisition—Barbara Collier informed the committee that she is working on
guidelines for items that are dropped off at Open House for donation. Sometimes
items are dropped off without any background information, so we need to develop a
system for accounting for these items.
a. Barbara also informed the committee that she and Gary Parker went through
the store room and inventoried items that were on the shelves.
b. Barbara is still working on items that were printed out from the Past Perfect
database
c. Barbara stated the importance of making sure items are inventoried by
location
3. Library Display—Marilyn Long said the items at the Library are still being
identified.
4. Facebook—Linda is asking committee members to send her pictures from Open
House and other events so she can post them on Facebook
5. Plaque—No Report
6. Euless Marker—No Report.
7. Display Signs—The committee is happy with the new sign on the Fuller House
8. Publicity/Program/Speakers—No Report.
9. Historical Albums—Marilyn Long said she is working on getting rid of duplicate
pieces for the albums
10.Heritage Park—No report
11.Photography/Oral History—No report
12.Artifact Recovery—No report.
13.Historical Tree Program—No report.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Mavy passed around artwork and sample shapes for possible hand fans to be given
away at Heritage Park. She also reported that the cost to get 500 fans done would
be around$500. The committee was very pleased with the artwork and also chose
the "Breadslice" shape for the fans. Al Browning made a motion to move forward
with purchasing the fans and it was seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
COMMITTEE REPORT
1. Barbara Collier talked about items she acquired from Dr. Roberts' old office. He was
a dentist for a long time in Euless and she was able to obtain his old check
embossing machine and the sign with his name on it.
2. Doris Brown asked what the procedure was on getting back items on loan from the
museum. There were forms filled out for on loan items,but there is some confusion
as to where these forms are located. Frank Ocampo said he will get with Ofa on the
location of the forms.
3. Mayor Martin made the suggestion of allowing a Plant Swap and/or homemade craft
vendors to be on site during Open House tours. Gary Parker and Barbara Collier
also suggested having blacksmiths on site to make and sell their products.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business,Al Browning made a motion to adjourn the meeting and the
motion was seconded. The motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 11:34 a.m.
