Parks and Leisure Services Board
October 2, 2017
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:57 p.m. on
Monday, October 2, 2017 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Randy Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Tiffany Smith, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler,

Salman Bhojani and Jason Reyes. Members absent: Mohib Nawab.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Frank Ocampo and Administrative Secretary Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: No visitors present.
INVOCATION
Mr. Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
September 11, 2017 regular meeting. Mr. Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by Mr. Raab. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Steve Doty—Preserve and McCormick: No items to report.
b. John Raab—VOBC and Reflection: No items to report.
c. Tiffany Smith— Heritage and South Euless: No items to report.
d. Roger Sickler-West park &Wilshire: Suggested an awning over picnic benches.
e. Jason Reyes—Midway & Blessing Branch: No items to report.
f. Salman Bhojani—Bob Eden and Trailwood: No items to report.
g. Mohib Nawab—Kiddie Carr &J.A. Carr: Not present.
h. Randy Jones—Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.
Special Event Report:
September 15: Concert in the Park—Colt and the old 45's—125 people

II. Volunteer of the Quarter
Chairman Jones announced that the Volunteer of this Quarter is Ms. Courtney Barton.
Trinity High School National Honor Society and the City of Euless have worked together in past
events, but Ms. Barton has taken over the leadership for Trinity NHS and has done an outstanding
job. Organizing all the high school students at each of our events and ensuring they are doing each
task properly. She is always willing to sign up and help no matter which event. We appreciate her
dedication to the city. Ms. Barton could not be present, her award will be delivered to her.
III. Beautification Award
a. Chairman Jones announced the October 2017 Residential Yard of the Month winner is Ms.
Reedie Stone at 803 Janann St. This property has many low maintenance species of plants such as
Burford Holly, Fringe Flower, Perwinkle, Canna, Wandering Jew, and a plush green lawn to add to
the beautification of the city. The lawn is always green and edged to perfection. Ms. Stone was
not able to be present, her award will be delivered to her.
b. Chairman Jones announced the October 2017 Business/Civic/Governmental Beautification
award winner goes to Burgandy Tower at 1001 W, Euless Blvd. This business is always well
trimmed and weed free throughout the entire property and lawn. The landscape offers many
different species such as Asian Jasmine, Purple Fountain Grass, Wax Leaf Ligustrum, Juniper, and
large lacebark Elm trees to add to the beautification of this property. Burgandy tower was not
able to send a representative;their award will be delivered to them.
IV. Business of the Tree Board
Mr. Reyes reported the following for September:
a. Total man hours for September 1-30 = 588
• 201.00 Horticulture
• 165.00 Forestry
• 206.00 Greenhouse
• 0.00 Special Projects
• 0.00 Training
➢ Trimmed trees at Kiddie Karr Park.
➢ Trimmed trees at Fire Administration 9/11 monument.
➢ Trimmed trees at Midway Park.
➢ Trimmed trees at Villages at Bear Creek Park.
➢ Trimmed trees at Bob Eden Park.

Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
