HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-01-08 Regular Meeting Parks and Leisure Services Board January 8, 2018 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:01 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Vice Chairman John Raab. Other Board Members present: Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Jason Reyes, Salman Bhojani and Mohib Nawab. Members absent: Randy Jones and Tiffany Smith. Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Frank Ocampo and Administrative Secretary Jordan Peterson. Visitors present: INVOCATION Roger Sickler gave the invocation. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Vice Chairman John Raab asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the December 4th, 2017 regular meeting. Mr. Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was seconded by Mr. Reyes. The vote was unanimous. I. Election of Officers Vice Chairman John Raab recommended tabling the election of officers to the February meeting due to the lack of attendance. II. Board Member Reports a. Steve Doty— Preserve and McCormick: No items to report. b. John Raab—VOBC and Reflection: No items to report. c. Tiffany Smith— Heritage and South Euless: Not present. d. Roger Sickler- West park & Wilshire: No items to report. e. Jason Reyes—Midway& Blessing Branch: No items to report. f. Salman Bhojani— Bob Eden and Trailwood: No items to report g. Mohib Nawab—Kiddie Carr &J.A. Carr: No items to report. h. Randy Jones—Parks at Texas Star: Not present Parks and Leisure Services Board Page 1 i. John Raab reported on the special events: • December 2—Parade of lights—2,000 people • December 9— Heritage Park Christmas—650 people Uocomin� • February 10— Daddy Daughter Dance at EFLC Senior Center 6:30—8:30 pm III. Business of the Tree Board Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for December: a. Total man hours for December 1-31 = 773 • 465.00 Horticulture • 103.00 Forestry • 68.00 Greenhouse • 137.00 Special Projects • 0.00 Training ➢ Trimmed trees along S. Pipeline Rd., Midway Park fence line, and finished the Parks at Texas Star complex. IV. Staff Report- Frank Ocampo • Update on FY18 projects. ■ Replacement of hydraulic equipment on track. ■ Gym floor resurfacing. Vice Chairman John Raab thanked the staff for their report. V. Other New Business No new business. VI. Input from City Council Members and Visitors No input or comments. ADJOURNMENT Roger Sickler gave the benediction.
