amassing more than 20,257 miles under his
well-worn tennis shoes.
"About a year ago,I started taking Sundays
off. But all that mileage is right here at this
park," said Foote, referring to the half-mile
trail in J.A. Carr Park behind the Simmons
Senior Center in Euless. "Just walking. No
goal.No nothing."
Foote began walking at Carr Park in 1990 at
a doctor's suggestion. Out on the soft track
by 4:50 am., he counts the number of laps.
By 7 a.m.,his walk complete,he often returns
to the senior center. Each night, he records

to be appointed in October 2004. Time and frequency of
meetings vary, depending upon the board or commission

accused of sex assault
EULESS—A Birdville school
district teacher who resigned
after he was accused of sexually
assaulting a student remained in
Euless police custody Thursday.
The teacher was arrested shortly, '
before noon Wednesday,suspect-
ed of aggravated sexual assault
of a child.Bail was expected to be
set this morning,Euless police Lt. ,
Danny Neill and Birdville district
spokesman Mark Thomas said.
The case will be presented to the'
Tarrant County district attorney's I '
office for review,Neill said:
The teacher surrendered to
Euless police because he lives
there,and it is where the abuse is
alleged to have taken place,
according to Thomas and
KXAS/Channel 5.Thomas
declined to name the teacher but '
confirmed that he resigned

and we are cooperating with the
