EULESS —An assistant police chief
was suspended for three days without
' pay for accidentally zapping a city
employee with a Taser this month.
Assistant Chief Bob Freeman will
probably serve the suspension next week,
' said Betsy Boyett,a city spokeswoman.
The suspension came Friday after an
internal affairs investigation of the Feb.2
incident at the Euless police detention
' center."I feel sad for Bob,because it was
just an accident,"said T.J.Donoghue,the
man who was hit by the Taser and the
t city's facilities supervisor. "I wish he
hadn't received the suspension.".
Freeman has said he was joking with
Donoghue about quickly restoring elec-
trical power at the police station when
he picked up the 50,000-volt X26 Taser,
thinking it didn't have a cartridge inside.
But when he squeezed the trigger,
two barbs were fired.One barb lodged in
Donoghue's shirt and the other pierced
his sleeve,making contact with his arm.
The shock temporarily knocked out
