September 16, 1991 CALL TO : The regular meeting of the "BEE" Committee was called to order at 7:OOpm at the Simmons Senior Citizen Center by Leon Hogg, Euless Parks and Recreation Board Chairman. ATTENDEES: Leon Hogg Tom Kindinger Althea Staks Rick Herold INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS AND GUESTS: None present. MINUTES OF IAST 'COXING: Minutes of the last meeting were approved as read. VICIETEER HUMPS: Members turn in 15 volunteer hours for the month of August. CED BUSINESS: Althea Staks said she had checked with six youth organizations and let them know that patches are available for beautification projects. Each organization said they had nothing planned last year for beautification. She is hopeful they would be receptive this year for community beautification projects. Mr. Hogg mentioned many of the groups represent multi-cities, such as Euless-Bedford-Hurst, and that we may have to market our programs to them as well. Discussion followed about the new city volunteer coordinator. Members felt that could also be a good resource for B.E.E. Tom Kindinger reported that Chevron was awarded Business Beautification of the Month. The Chevron at Harwood and 157 was awaiting permission from the Corporate office to place a sign at the location. Members said they thought it was a very good choice. Mr. Kindinger reported that an apartment complex would be chosen for October 1991. Rick Herold reported that the city has re-worked the beautification berm with two goals in mind: to approve it's appearance while reducing maintenance cost. Mr. Herold asked members to go by the berm as their time permits. Mr. Herold reported that Irene Rosecrans called and apologized for missing the meeting but she would be in Colorado. He said Ms. Rosecrans will be coming back to B.E.E. and would be a welcomed addition. NEAT Bim: A discussion was held as to the direction of the B.E.E. Discussion centered around the fact that thru changes in Keep Texas Beautiful, the B.E.E. committee had ventured into other areas to keep pace. With the small membership it seemed to tax all the members and forced a decline in "beautification type projects". Following the discussion, Member Staks made the following motion. . . B.E.E. will set specific yearly goals (beginning in 1992) and due to current membership numbers will concentrate it's efforts on beautification and clean-up projects including Highway 10, Main Street, Great Texas Trash-off. Monthly Beautification awards also are to be continued. Motion: Staks Second: Kindinger Passed Unanimously Member Hogg made a motion to have February 1992 as recruitment month. Plans will be discussed later, but it was mentioned that brining back old members to share their success stories, have a dinner, and create enthusiasm. A committee could be created latter. The motion read. . . To make November 1992 as "B.E.E. New Member Month", with special activities to create excitement. Motion: Hogg Second: Kindinger Passed Unanimously With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15.
