April 15, 1991 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the BEE Committee was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at the City of Euless Building "B" by Chairperson Dee Heilman. ATTENDEES: Dee Heilman Jay Heilman Tom Kindinger Marge Crow Irene Rosecrans MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: Minutes of the last meeting were approved as read by Marge Crow and Tom Kindenger. TREASURER'S REPORT: In the absence of Louise Webb, Marge Crow gave the report. There does not seem to be -a confirmed balance to report. VOLUNTEER HOURS: The following is a corrected report as Marge Crow said the reporting time should be from May 1 , 1990 to April 30, 1991 ' The total hours for this time is : 1 ,668. OLD BUSINESS: Dee Heilman gave a report on the Leisure Faire. The committee gave away over 1008 ba\ loons , lDO magnets made with paper shreds , Dee said she felt that the BEE booth was a big success and along with the balloons the magnetic rulers and wooden nickels were given away. Dee, Jay, Tom, Irene and Helen took turns in watching the booth. } Dee suggested that the committee write to those people who indicated an interest in the BEE Committee and ask if they would be interested in joining the group. The Senior Citizens group were discussed and the committee will invite them to attend our meetings and if they do not have transportation the committee will provide it. In the absence of Debra Maxwell there was no yard of the month report. Yard of the month applications are available at most city locations. There was discussion on the committee doing more for the city and will undertake some special projects with and for the Senior Citizens . More clean up around the city was also discussed, and utilize special education youngsters to aid in these projects . The Wilshire school has shown an interest in the recycle program and other projects that some of the teachers and young people would be interested in. Randy Marsh was involved with the Committee in special projects last year and it was decided to approach him to see if we could begin with him. { Marketing the BEE Committee was also discussed and plans for that and increasing the membership are being worked on. A letter should be written to First United Methodist Church in Euless for their beautification project of landscaping. It is seen as people enter the cit . om Highways 10 and 183 and is an asset to the City. =We're Building a Beautiful Tomorrow" The roses at the church are quite beautiful and the grounds are very well kept. Dee and Irene will work to design a new brochure. Discussion was held on where to place the brochures once they have been printed. There was further discussion on a Moving Message Board. If the Committee could put aside the funds the Committee will pursue this and is felt it would be an asset to the City for announcements . Marland Ernest will be attending school so Tom Kindinger will work on business beautification awards. Jay Heilman gave a report on Law Enforcement and said that one of our Euless officers stopped a motorists littering and told him to pick up what he has discarded and then wrote him a ticket. Dee will check on the KTB meeting to be held in June and plans will be made to send delegates. Dee served refreshments and the meeting was adjourned at 8:30.
