Minutes from the meeting in September were not available but will be presented for approval at our next meeting. The corresponding secretary reported that she received a call from Susan Waller, Alcoa Aluminum thanking us for the invitation to our barbecue. A brochure received from "Clean Dallas, Inc." updating us on their activities was circulated. Helen Lightbody reported that her husband had completed updating all our "BEE" brochures and anyone needing these should contact her. These are currently displayed at the Library, Water desk, Administration Offices, Simmons Senior Citizen Center and the Chamber of Commerce. Volunteer hours were requested and monthly reporting encouraged. Marge showed some pictures of the barbecue that were provided by Jay Heilman and a bulletin from Tree City,USA showing how to prune trees. It headlined that "topping trees was senseless brutality". XMAS DISPLAY PROJECT: Vercile Jordan reported that she had most drawings completed for our project. All painting materials and supplies were procured. Work will be done and workshops held at the Ruth Millicen Center. Marland Ernest and Bob Perry with co-chair this project. Since this project must be completed relatively soon before the holidays, it was decided that volunteers and committee members will be contacted for the different workshops. If you or anyone you know would be interested in this project please join us. We welcome suggestions and participation from everyone. We are a volunteer organization working for the entire citizenry of Euless and we can use help. Vercile has done much artwork to date and will continue to provide additional artwork and color coordination. This should be a "fun" project. Come join us. Some 10 Certificates of Appreciation for volunteers who did not attend the barbecue are available for pickup or delivery. They include the following: Sierra Environmental, O.E. Scott, Louis Flores, Michael Hines, Clay Abbott, Joe Brandon, Oakwood Forest, Terry Hubbard, Oakwood Forest Apts., and Euless Town & Country Garden Club. XMAS TREE MULCHING PROJECT: A suggested site for the project is the vacant lot on Highway #10 where the Lion's Club will sell their Xmas trees. Handouts will be provided for those purchasing trees to inform them that they can bring them back from 12/26/89 thru January 6 for mulching. They will keep the mulch for their home use around plants. Details for the project have not been completed as yet but we will need to publicize this project as soon as possible. ue,AO "We're Building a Beautiful Tomorrow" Page 2 - Minutes of Meeting held OCtober 16, 1989 (BEE) BERM PROJECT: Marland reported that the Parks Department did an outstanding job in clearing the berm of weeds. They had some help from the "working connection". This will be a high maintenance item for quite some time and he suggested that the "BEE" give some thought to provide supplemental support toward the maintenance of this project. RECYCLE CENTER: A total of $1799.50 has been turned into the City from the Recycling Center to date. Marland commented on the meeting of the Tarrant County Solid Waste Disposal Committee. He also stated that the City is working on a sign that must be posted as official garage sale signs to show that they are properly permitted. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
