REGULAR MEETING * �� "BEE" COMMITTEE * ,0 7-e ���-��� June 18, 1990 �� ' N, emeabi- CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the "BEE" Committee, a volunteer group for the City of Euless, was called to order at 7:00 P.M. at the City Hall by Chairman Marge Crow. ATTENDEES: Marge Crow Irene Rosecrans Abby Deloach Dee & Jay Heilman Helen Lightbody Louise Webb Rick Herold Marland Ernest APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the meeting held May 21, 1990 were approved as read. VOLUNTEER HOURS: Irene Rosecrans was asked to take on the record keeping of our volunteer hours. GOVERNOR'S ACHIEVEMENT AWARD ENTRY: City of Euless won 3rd place this year. Attendees to the the 23rd Annual Meeting of KTB, Inc. to be held in El Paso on June 27-29 this year will be Marge Crow, Helen & Larry Lightbody, Rick Herold, and Julia Wakeley. CORRESPONDING SECRETARY REPORT: Discussion was held on how we should approach the current volunteers of Hwy #10 flower beds to retain their commitment and interest since the State Highway Department has started work on widening the highway. We will invite them to our next meeting and hope they will assist us in setting up the 1991 "BEE" Program. Many events are proposed. NEW OFFICERS: The nominating committee submitted the names of Dee Heilman for Chairman and Althea Staks for Vice Chairman. Marge Crow will continue to serve in an advisory capacity. She has worked diligently as Chairman for two years and has contributed much to our program. RECYCLE CENTER: Discussion was held relative to our current Recycle Center. Marge Crow mentioned that a Contracting Company contacted her' relative to picking up trash within the City offices. Dee Heilman will contact the Company to find out more about their proposal. Ken Balsinger has been sent by the City to Houston to attend a seminar on Recycling. We will be anxious to get his report. - BUSINESS AWARDS: Marland Ernest reported that the first business award will be presented to Del Norte. A special plaque will be presented by Steve Norwood in conjunction with our economic development area. The promotion of beautification through businesses can contribute much to our City and its citizens. This award will be presented this coming Wednesday. TREE PROGRAM: Rick Herold brought us up-to-date on this program and more information will be provided at the next meeting. He also stated that five 8* ute40 "We're Building a Beautiful Tomorrow" r - Page 2 of 2 Minutes of Meeting Held May 21, 1990, volunteers have shown interest in the "Greenhouse". WORKING CONNECTION: Jay Heilman working with Randy Marsh, reported that the Group from the Working Connection weeded and planted around the Ruth Milliken Center. They also cleaned the interior. They were pleased with the project. CHRISTMAS PROJECT: This project will be accelerated at our next meeting. Various decorating ideas were suggested by the Committee. Dee Heilman and Irene Rosecrans will meet prior to the next meeting and hopefully come up with a Master Plan. Each year we could add something new and the final result will hopefully be a complete, coordinated and effective plan. YARD OF THE MONTH: Abby Deloach said the program was progressing nicely. She was disappointed that the material she submitted to be printed in the "Leisure Times" was not included in the new issue. While she will not be readily available this coming year, she and her husband could possibly help on "one time" projects. Meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
