HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-03-14 FINAL MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD March 14, 2018 ITEM 1 — CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor at 11:32 A.M. at the City of Euless Public Works Facility, 1513 Westpark Way, Euless, Texas 76040. The following members were in attendance: Dr. Susan Read City Council Member Perry Bynum Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor Bedford Animal Control Officer Scott Cepak Staff Members Present: Assistant Director of Public Works James Whitt Facilities Foreman Kenny Spargur Animal Control Officer Jodan Shelton Administrative Secretary Debbie Latour Guests Present.- Sandra resent:Sandra Bitz — Mid-Cities Community Cats Jennifer Saldana — Mid-Cities Community Cats Cindy Ferguson — Mid-Cities Community Cats ITEM 2 — REVIEW & APPROVE MEETING MINUTES FROM NOVEMBER 15, 2017 Director Cranor asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes of November 15, 2017. With no questions or comments, the minutes were accepted as written. ITEM 3 — UPDATE ON GAP ACO Shelton reported the following GAP activities; Adoption even held on 1/20 at Hollywood Feed in Colleyville; a cat only adoption event at the Pet Supermarket on N Tarrant, and a spotted dog adoption event at Hollywood Feed in Colleyville. They will be having a Paws & Cars fundraiser at Bob Eden Park on 4/18 from 2-6pm. The Gap Walk- A-Thon is scheduled on 4/28 at10am at Trinity High School where they will be offering microchipping and various other services. Page 1 of 2 ITEM 4— QUARTERLY REPORT Composite of quarterly calls for service were distributed along with case statistics per species. These are district patrols, which include any noise complaints. Calls for service were 625, an increase from 566 during the same time period last year. Specifics of the case statistics were discussed including an increase of calls regarding skunks, and traps set. Director Cranor asked if there were any questions pertaining to the quarterly report. No questions were indicated. ITEM 5 — SHELTER / FACILITY UPDATE ACO Shelton reported that a kindergarten class from Treetops School had a fundraiser and brought in $197, pet food, and various cat toys. The lock on the quarantine area door has been replaced and a new half door has been installed for the walk through area. ACO Shelton also introduced 4 new/updated forms to include; 1( quarantine form in case of a dog bite; 2) agreement & liability waiver in cases of housing a non-impounded animal due to extenuating circumstances; 3) impound of a vicious animal (City of Euless deems vicious or due to a citizen complaint); 4) animal trapping guidelines and release agreement. ITEM 6 — QUESTIONS / COMMENTS Director Cranor reported that a replacement for Council Member Bynum will be joining us for the next meeting. Ms. Jennifer Saldana from Mid-Cities Community Cats gave an update to include; they have implemented a pilot program at Knob Hill Mobile Home Park that has produced, so far, the TNR of 27 cats. She also reported that City-wide since January 2018, they have been able to assist more than 50 cats. Ms. Saldana asked if there were any questions regarding their TNR (trap, neuter, release) methods. ITEM 7 — ADJOURN The meeting was adjourned at 11:50 A.M. APPROVED: ATTEST: By: l By: !
