HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-06-22 CCPD Minutes CITY OF EULESS CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT MINUTES OF BOARD MEETING June 22, 1999 CALL TO ORDER A meeting of the Crime Control and Prevention District Board was called to order by Vice President Lou Baum at 3:42 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 1999, in the Municipal Building Conference Room, 201 North Ector Drive, Euless. Board members present included: Mayor Mary Lib Saleh, City Council Members Carl Tyson, Glenn Porterfield and Katie Edwards, Citizen Members Lou Baum and Barney Snitz and staff members, Deputy City Manager Gary McKamie, Acting Chief of Police Bob Freeman, Finance Director Loretta Getchell and City Secretary Susan Crim. Citizen Member Ron Shields was not present. APPROVAL. MINUTES OF JUNE 8, 1999 MEETING Upon motion by Mayor Saleh and second by Council Member Katie Edwards, the minutes of the June 8, 1999 meeting were approved by unanimous vote. APPROVAL, AMENDMENT TO FISCAL YEAR 1998-1999 BUDGET Mayor Saleh moved to amend the Crime Control and Prevention District Budget for Fiscal Year 1998-1999 to increase total expenditures to $1,495,000 with $510,000 thereof to be allocated to the Police Facility Construction Fund. The motion was seconded by Council Member Katie Edwards and carried by unanimous vote. APPROVAL. FISCAL YEAR 1999-2000 BUDGET Vice President Baum stated that a public hearing on the proposed budget was held on June 8, 1999, and the Board Members have had several weeks to review the budget and are now considering its approval. Council Member Katie Edwards moved to approve the Crime Control and Prevention District Budget for Fiscal Year 1999 - 2000. The motion was seconded by Council Member Glenn Porterfield and carried by unanimous vote. Deputy City Manager Gary McKamie reported that the new police and court facility is scheduled to be bid in July, and the City Council will be deciding whether to hire a construction manager or to use a general contractor. • CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT MINUTES JUNE 22, 1999 PAGE 2 Deputy City Manager McKamie also reminded the Board Members that the Crime Control and Prevention District sales tax will expire in 2000, and an election will be held next year to determine the citizens' vote to extend it.
