OF THE
EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD
June 13,2018
ITEM 1 - CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by
Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor at 11:33 A.M. at the City of Euless
Public Works Facility, 1513 Westpark Way, Euless, Texas 76040.
The following members were in attendance:

ITEM 2 - REVIEW & APPROVE MEETING MINUTES FROM NOVEMBER 15, 2017
Director Cranor asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes of
March 14,2018. With no questions or comments, the minutes were accepted as written.
ITEM 3 - UPDATE ON GAP
ACO Supervisor Atkinson reported the following GAP activities; Adoption events held at
HEB Reads, a cat only adoption event at the Pet Supermarket, and Hollywood Feeds.
The Gap Walk-A-Thon was held on 4128118 at Trinity High School. Their fund raising goal
was $15,000 and exceeded that by raising more than $20,000. Director Cranor informed
the Board that the City of Euless wil! be increasing the quarterly donation to GAP from
$1,000 to $1,250 to further assist with their costs. Dr. Read reported that she is aware of
a veterinary drug company that has a "shelter program" that could possibly offer low cost
vaccines, etc. She will provide the information to the shelter so they can forward the
information to GAP.

ITEM 4 - QUARTERLY REPORT
Number of calls for service are down which is believed to be due to the decreased calls
for barking dogs. lnquiry was made about the cooperation of the courts. Supervisor
Atkinson confirmed that they understand the program and are complying. Board members
discussed the increase of animal bites, the disposition of wildlife, and received clarification
on owner released animals. Director Cranor asked if there were any questions pertaining
to the quarterly report. No questions were indicated.
ITEM 5 - SHELTER / FACILIW UPDATE
Supervisor Atkinson explained the live release rates (93%; up from 75o/o) by the shelter.
lnjured animals are not included in these figures. ACO Shelton & Facilities Foreman
completed Administrative ACO training Class. Foreman Spargur also completed a Texas
Dog Fighting Laws & lnvestigation Class. A young lady raised money for her birthday;
PetSmart gave her a discount for the animal shelter supplies she purchased there. There
were also several students from N Euless Elementary that volunteered at the shelter. At
the request of GAP for more shade, sun shades were purchased for the dog park area at
the shelter. The State of Texas has changed their shelter inspection procedures for
quarantine shelters, Because the City shelter is a quarantine shelter, an inspection was
held on 4119118; the Animal Shelter passed the inspection.
ITEM 6 - QUESTIONS / COMMENTS
Director Cranor thanked Council Member Price for joining the Animal Shelter Advisory
Board and asked if there were any questions or comments pertaining to the meeting. No
questions were indicated.
